CHAPTER 1: INTRODUCTION

1.1 INTRODUCTION OF INDUSTRIAL TRAINING

As part of graduation requirements, all the fourth semester students in Faculty of

Computer and Mathematical Sciences, MARA University of Technology (UiTM) are
compulsory to carry out industrial training at any organization set by faculty or by students
own preferences. For the 2019/2020 session, the training runs for 8 weeks, starting from 15
July 2019 until 6 September 2019.

As we know, Internships provide real world experience to those looking to explore

or gain the relevant knowledge and skills required to enter into a particular career field.
Internships are relatively short term in nature with the primary focus on getting some on the
job training and taking what is learned in the classroom and applying it to the real world.
Interns generally have a supervisor who assigns specific tasks and evaluates the interns
overall work. For internships credit, usually a faculty sponsor will work along with the site
supervisor to ensure that the necessary learning is taking place. Internships are an excellent
way to begin building those all important connections that are invaluable in developing and
maintaining a strong professional network for the future.

1
1.2 INDUSTRIAL TRAINING PURPOSE

 Get the more experience in expose to practical and professional attitudes

 Get encourage in apply theory and practical knowledges
 Will adopt in working environment and teamwork
 Get practice be the potential employees
 Can enhance the ability to improve creativity skills and sharing ideas with others

1.3 OBJECTIVES OF INDUSTRIAL TRAINING

The objectives of industrial training module is to expose all students of Diploma of

Computer Science how to practically implement all the theories that they have learnt in the
class and enhance their ability to use their skills. Between the objectives of practical training
are as follows:

o To instill the good qualities of integrity, responsibility and self confidence.

o Develop teamwork and good relationships with employees.
o Allows students to see the connection between the theory being learned and the
practical work.
o Practicing and adhering to safety regulations during industrial training.
o Create awareness and increase student interest in selected fields.
o Be able to evaluate your own ability to prepare for the job after graduation.

1.4 IMPORTANCES OF INDUSTRIAL TRAINING

The importance of Industrial Training program are as follow:

 To build and strengthen students to be more confident in dealing with any tasks and
expectations they may face in the workplace.
 Develop teamwork and good relationships with employees of an organization.
 Have a good communication skills.
 To uphold the high standards as expected for UiTM students.

2
1.5 BENEFITS OF INDUSTRIAL TRAINING

1. Gain valuable work experience

The hands-on work experience interns receive is invaluable and cannot be
obtained in a classroom setting, making this one of the most important benefits of
internships. Interns have the opportunity to apply acquired knowledge to real work
experiences, witnessing firsthand the day-to-day job duties they can expect to
encounter in their chosen field. In addition to learning the specialized skills of a
particular field, transferable skills such as communication, teamwork, and computer
proficiency are also obtained in an internship, fully preparing interns to enter the
workforce upon graduation.

2. Explore a career path

Exploring is an important part of the college experience, and internships are
a great way for students to acquaint themselves with the field they are interested in.
Some students begin college with a major or career path in mind, and end up
changing their minds later on. Taking on an internship while in college allows
students to work in their desired field, helping them decide if the field is right for
them. By graduation, students who interned are more likely to feel confident they
chose the right degree.

3. Give yourself an edge in the job market

One of the most important internship benefits is that college graduates who
already have some work experience in the form of an internship stand out to potential
employers. Internship experience makes a college grad more marketable as they
usually require less training and can handle more responsibilities. You may also
receive a higher starting salary than those who do not have internship experience and
are entering the workforce or starting a new career.

CHAPTER 3: RESEARCH ON THE PROJECT

3.1 INTRODUCTION OF PROJECT

Maya Karin Travelogue Video is a travel-themed video that shows Maya Karin
traveling from Kota Kinabalu Sabah to Maliau Basin Sabah to attend a talk on Building
Resources and Capacity for Environmental Awareness in Sabah in this video, Maya Karin
travels to the Maliau Basin from Kota Kinabalu. He stopped by a restaurant in Keringau for
breakfast. Later, Maya Karin visited places in the Maliau Basin such as the Maliau
Suspension Bridge and the Maliau River. In the afternoon, Maya Karin and her team arrived
at the Maliau Basin Study Center to attend a talk about the Caretalkes of Mount Kinabalu.
After completing the talk, Maya Karin and her team returned to Kota Kinabalu.

Before making videos, we need to understand the meaning of travelogue. Travelogue

means a lecture on travels, usually accompanied by the showing of pictures or a film, usually
short, about a foreign or out-of-the-way place, espically one that emphasizes the place's
unusual or glamorous aspects. In making travelogue videos also we need to attract people to
watch our videos to the end. In today’s world, our attention spans are small. We need to
make our travel videos short and sweet. Everything you want to include in the travel story
needs to be done to maximum effect that need to get straight to the heart of the message and
cull out all the excess baggage.

7
3.2 SYSTEM DESCRIPTION

3.2.1 OBJECTIVE

The objective of this project is:

 To introduced Maliau Basin, Sabah to the video audience
 The number of Internet users that consume video content daily is staggering
 To share knowledge about the Maliau Basin to the audience

3.2.2 SCOPE

The target audience is everyone because this video is a knowledge sharing video and
there is no specific audience. This video has attracted a lot of viewers as it provides insight
into the Maliau Basin, attracting viewers to see the beauty of the Maliau Basin.

8
3.3 FEASIBILITY STUDIES

3.3.1 TECHNICAL FEASIBILITY

i. This system is technically feasible since the hardware and software required for
the project are available.

3.3.2 ECONOMIC FEASIBILITY

This system is economically feasible where the cost is charged to the client below RM1000.
This is due to:

i. No animation is used because the cost of making an animated video is expensive

and costly.
ii. Does not require high cost as it does not require us to go to the shooting place
because video footage has been provided by the client.

3.3.3 OPERATIONAL FEASIBILITY

i. This system is operationally feasible because when the completion of the video
project goes live on social media, there is over 5 billion video views per day.on
YouTube and it is very profitable.

9
3.4 PROJECT ANALYSIS

 Project analysis has been made before starting the video editing process in order to
get better view on the song to be selected, the type of font to be used and the duration
of the video requested by the client.
 Additionally, discussion, meetings, fact finding techniques and observation had been
applied during the project analysis period.

3.5 FACT FINDING TECHNIQUES

These are the fact finding techniques that have been applied during the system analysis
process:

i. Understand the problem or opportunity.

ii. Define the project scope.
iii. Performance of fact finding.
iv. Study of usability, cost, benefit and schedule data.
v. Feasibility evaluation.
vi. Present recommendation to management.

3.6 OBSERVATION

Observation has been made for several days of the video that available in Youtube in order
to obtain useful information for the video editing process.

10
3.7 OTHER TASK/PROJECT

As trainee in Gambo TV, making Maya Karin travelogue video to Maliau Basin not
only task that been assigned but also made other videos like Maya Karin attending the
Malaya Tiger event and visiting natives at Royal Belum, doing safety video research for a
corporate video to be held in October for Petronas, doing Hajj research for future video
referrals made for Astro Oasis and also created an animated E-card for the Hari Raya
Aidiladha celebration that will posted on Gambo TV Instagram.

In addition to the work that needed to be done in the office, I also followed the other
staff to the shooting set in Kelana Jaya to get some experience and knowledge on how to
setup the items used for photoshoots, how to pose properly by the model in the product
demonstration, and how to manage the time not to exceed the client's specified hours.

CHAPTER 5: CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATION

5.1 CONCLUSION

Two months of my industrial training at Gambo TV has been one of the most
interesting, productive and instructive experience in trainee life. Through this training,
gaining new insight and more comprehensive understanding about the real industrial
working environment important to trainee and it has also improved the soft skills and
functional skills. All these valuable experiences and knowledge had gained were not only
acquired through the direct involvement in task but also through other aspects of the training
such as working in team, interaction with staff and superior.

5.2 RECOMMENDATION

Gambo TV is lacking in the production of animated videos. Animated video is an

engaging instrument that can help you tell your story more comprehensively. 65% of people
are visual learners, and 90% of the information transmitted to the brain is visual. Animation
evokes emotions that resonate with the viewers. It sparks conversations and makes audience
want to follow the story. Gambo TV is not well known to the public so in this way it can be
used as a marketing strategy for the company. By now Gambo TV should have convinced
to use more animation across their social media channels.
