Happy Fall! We can’t believe it’s fall already, and our class is gearing up for all the sights and sounds, smells and taste,
and touch that fall has to offer. Our week started off a little light with a few children out due to runny noses. By the
middle of the week we were all back together again. 😊
Drop off and pick up have gone very smoothly. Our Zebra families are doing a superb job with that! Unless you have a
sibling in Pre-K, drop off is 9:00-9:15; pick up is at 11:55. We allow the children time to acquaint themselves with the
centers for the day, and then we start our day together around 9:15.
Throughout the day the children have numerous opportunities to use their fine and gross motor skills. The
playground and gym are especially suited for practicing large motor skills. During center time as they are cutting and
gluing, drawing, painting, and working with manipulatives, the children are developing their fine motor skills.
Our Accomplishments:
This week we celebrated Caroline’s birthday. She was excited to bring in fun Spiderman napkins to share with the
class for snack time. We made art folders to keep at home and store all of our artwork that comes home. An “All
About Me” page should be in there already. On this page, the children viewed their reflection in a mirror and
completed a self-portrait.
We read I’m Gonna Like Me, a book about building self-esteem. We discussed how we are proud of ourselves when
we do things we are good at, and we talked about how we are proud of ourselves no matter what, even when we
make mistakes.
We wrapped up the week with Show and Tell. Show and Tell encompasses so many skills. The children learn how to
speak and how to listen to their friends. They also learn to be patient and take turns. In addition, they learn to look at
their friends as they speak audibly and clearly. Show and Tell allows them the opportunity to practice so many skills
and builds their self-esteem!
