the parts of plant and animal cells. B. Develop a model to identify and label parts of an animal cell
(membrane, cytoplasm, and nucleus).

Technology Standard Addressed: Knowledge Constructor: Students critically curate a variety of resources
using digital tools to construct knowledge, produce creative artifacts and make meaningful learning
experiences for themselves and their peers.

Universal Design for Learning (UDL):

ESOL students will be able to use BrainPop’s translated subtitles as well as resources to research in their
native languages. Videos are able to be reviewed, paused, and rewound as much as needed. Headphones will
be provided for students to listen to videos. The student’s movies will be accessible on the class blog for
families to watch and practice English with their student.

Lesson idea implementation:

Students will watch a BrainPop video about animal cells and their structure. Students will use various
resources such as texts in the classroom, library, computers, and BrainPop to research the structure and
difference between animal cells and plant cells. Students will gather their information and categorize their
notes by content area.

I can develop a model for all parts of an animal cell using food.

Students will use food to model the parts of an animal cell after the video as part of a five day lesson.
