ANIMAL FARM

How ''Animal Form" is still relevant to the contemporary political situation in

Pakistan?
The "Animal Form" will always have lessons to teach us about the ways that people abuse power
and manipulate others.

It is a short political novel based on Joseph Stalin's betrayal of Russian revolution.

It is about a group of animals who rebel against the humans who run the farm they live on and
run it themselves with hopes of being equal, free and happy. In the end however, the new rule
becomes a cruel tyranny of its own led by the pigs.

There are many characters representing different sects of Pakistan.

Old major representing the great leader Muhammad Ali Jinnah. It was Quaid's dream that, this
seperate state for, which a lot of struggle has been done, should emerge as a sovereign
democratic state. His motto "work, work and work" is a call to wake us from slumber and work
hard to achieve national goals.

Nepolean is the corrupt politician who don't work but exploit the resources. While he is at first a
common farm pig, He gets rid of Snowball, another pig which is his rival for power and then takes
the advantage of animal's uprising against their masters to eventually becomes the tyranical
President of farm which he turns into DICTATORSHIP.

The senseless Pakistani media occurs with thousand possible squealer's faces to interpret and
make us understand the world around the way the pigs want. This is how media manipulate and
could reshape our sense of judgement so that the most obvious wrong becomes right and the
other way round.

Boxer summaries the qualities of army soldiers and laborers who worked hard for the farm but
they are given nothing when they live and "after their deaths", memorial banquets are made for
their honor. He embodies the major weakness of working class naivety, blind trust, and lack of
mental faculty to identify the implicit scheme and political corruption.

Mollie portrays the Middle class of the society who is stupid and materialistic and were not very
excited about the revolution.

Dogs represents the Punjab Police, which directly serves the ruler.

ANIMAL FARM

Out of the narrow decision-making circles, the entire public turns into a herd of sheep repeating
unconsciously the song taught to them by the versions of the Ideological State Apparatuses
which vary according to the particularity of each society.

Snow ball representing Sheikh Mujeeb ur Rehman. Bhutto wanted some links between Pakistan
and Bangladesh but Mujeeb said he could not commit to anything, the quarell between them is
a good analogous to what happened in 1970's.

Animal Farm revolution was supposed to make life better for all but

1.Life was worse at the end,

2.The leaders become the same, as worse than the other farmers (humans) they rebelled against
whereas

Indo-Pak revolution was supposed to fix the problems created by British Government but

1. Life was even worse,

2.Only one group of people is living peacefully after the independence.

To conclude Animal farm is a fable, symbolic story, that teaches a universal truth. A revolution
can quickly be torn apart by ignorance and greed. Orwell shows how revolution can be as
dangerous as corrupt goverment and end with the same government they rebelled against. This
sort of rebellion is dangerous because it uses words "brotherhood" and "equality" to enslave and
use the citizens.

ANIMAL FARM

PRECIS WRITING

PARAGRAPH 1
By the late summer the news of what had happened on Animal Farm had spread across half
the county. Every day Snowball and Napoleon sent out flights of pigeons whose instructions
were to mingle with the animals on neighbouring farms, tell them the story of the Rebellion,
and teach them the tune of Beasts of England.

Most of this time Mr. Jones had spent sitting in the taproom of the Red Lion at Willingdon,
complaining to anyone who would listen of the monstrous injustice he had suffered in being
turned out of his property by a pack of good-for-nothing animals. The other farmers
sympathised in principle, but they did not at first give him much help. At heart, each of them
was secretly wondering whether he could not somehow turn Jones's misfortune to his own
advantage. It was lucky that the owners of the two farms which adjoined Animal Farm were on
permanently bad terms. One of them, which was named Foxwood, was a large, neglected, old-
fashioned farm, much overgrown by woodland, with all its pastures worn out and its hedges in
a disgraceful condition. Its owner, Mr. Pilkington, was an easy-going gentleman farmer who
spent most of his time in fishing or hunting according to the season. The other farm, which was
called Pinchfield, was smaller and better kept. Its owner was a Mr. Frederick, a tough, shrewd
man, perpetually involved in lawsuits and with a name for driving hard bargains. These two
disliked each other so much that it was difficult for them to come to any agreement, even in
defence of their own interests.

Precis:

When Napoleon and Snowball release the pigeons to spread the news of the successful rebellion,
it is clear that would want all the animals in the other neighboring farms to comprehend the
magnitude of their achievement.

Mr. Jones sits in the bar in Willingdon and complains about his fate. The other farmers sympathize
but refused to help. They all want to make his misfortune work for them. Luckily for the animals,
the owners of the two neighboring farms hate each other. The gentlemanly Mr. Pilkington owns
Foxwood, an overgrown and old fashioned farm on one side, while Mr. Fredrick owns Pinchfeild
on the other side. They hate each other too much to agree on anything even if it's in their best
interests.

PARAGRAPH 2
Nevertheless, they were both thoroughly frightened by the rebellion on Animal Farm, and very
anxious to prevent their own animals from learning too much about it. At first they pretended
to laugh to scorn the idea of animals managing a farm for themselves. The whole thing would
be over in a fortnight, they said. They put it about that the animals on the Manor Farm (they
insisted on calling it the Manor Farm; they would not tolerate the name "Animal Farm") were
perpetually fighting among themselves and were also rapidly starving to death. When time
passed and the animals had evidently not starved to death, Frederick and Pilkington changed
their tune and began to talk of the terrible wickedness that now flourished on Animal Farm. It
was given out that the animals there practised cannibalism, tortured one another with red-hot
horseshoes, and had their females in common. This was what came of rebelling against the
laws of Nature, Frederick and Pilkington said.

Precis:

Mr. Pilkington and Mr. Frederick are terrified of what happened on Animal Farm. They try to keep
their animals in the dark about what happened there and insist on continuing to call it Manor
Farm. Both are of the opinion that the animals are "rebelling against the laws of nature."

PARAGRAPH 3
However, these stories were never fully believed. Rumours of a wonderful farm, where the
human beings had been turned out and the animals managed their own affairs, continued to
circulate in vague and distorted forms, and throughout that year a wave of rebelliousness ran
through the countryside. Bulls which had always been tractable suddenly turned savage, sheep
broke down hedges and devoured the clover, cows kicked the pail over, hunters refused their
fences and shot their riders on to the other side. Above all, the tune and even the words of
Beasts of England were known everywhere. It had spread with astonishing speed. The human
beings could not contain their rage when they heard this song, though they pretended to think
it merely ridiculous. They could not understand, they said, how even animals could bring
themselves to sing such contemptible rubbish. Any animal caught singing it was given a flogging
on the spot. And yet the song was irrepressible. The blackbirds whistled it in the hedges, the
pigeons cooed it in the elms, it got into the din of the smithies and the tune of the church bells.
And when the human beings listened to it, they secretly trembled, hearing in it a prophecy of
their future doom.

Precis:

ANIMAL FARM

Rumours of wonderful farm continue to circulate. The animals have become incredibly strong.
The other animals in the neighboring farms are beginning to get inspired and could not resistthe
song as it was so tempting. When the human beings heard this song, they trembled with fear
because they could see the prediction of their future fate.
