Past simple. B1.

Speaking

(1)
Student A writes the name of a place they have been to on a sticky note. Then, the
other students try to guess the name of the city their partner has written by asking
yes/no questions in the past simple.

Once they have guessed their places, you can have an open panel where you talk
about these places and students explain when they visited these places, whether they
liked it or not and what they would recommend about the place

(2)
- Give/show the pictures to the students in the handout “Session 3 UOC
Pics and Role Cards”.
- In pairs, ask them to
- compare and contrast the different destinations (feel free to change
the pics for others you find more interesting/useful).
- answer the following questions:
- what kind of objectives may somebody who travels there
have ?
- What items would you take there?

- Put pairs now into groups of 4. Each group now express their preferences
and choose one of the destinations they would go to. Everyone now
should try to convince the rest of the group bringing in reasons why their
choice is the best possible.
- Share the small groups decision with the whole group.
Wrap-it up: give feedback on content and language once the activity is over.
