Comment and discuss the ethics program of Digi.com Bhd.

We would like to comment and discuss the ethics program of Digi.com Bhd. Digi
company is a listed company in Bursa Malaysia Securities Berhad. It is a global
telecommunications provider under Telenor Group and mobile service operations
undertaken by its wholly-owned subsidiary for their good services provided and the
most important is they had been the first digital mobile communication service in
Malaysia of May 1995 with launched its fully digital GSM1800 services (“Digi.com
fact sheet”, n.d.).
According to “Connecting You to what Matters Most” (2019), Digi has participated in
the Strategy Execution Programme which organized in collaboration with Telenor
and Deloitte that have been selected of 70 leaders from their company. It is an ethics
programme to develop and expand their business in a future-ready workforce of the
organization. This programme purpose is a basic in equipping their leaders with the
concepts of commerce dexterity and aptitudes to navigate through modern worldview
shifts, as well as empowering them to hone their authority style to drive a spry culture
and attitude. Therefore, Digi should provide some ethics training programme to their
employees and employers to enhance their knowledge and skills in future time. For
instance, Digi can organize an event of team building among its employees in their
organization. Teambuilding is a training programme as allowed the employees to
strengthen their relationship and their spirit in a team. Meantime, it would also be the
best chance for the employees to share their experiences and offer them some
challenging moments to improve their creativity and communications with each other.
Eventually, it will enhance a good corporation among individuals or in a group and
also get to learn or gain some new knowledge and skills from the others.
Besides, Digi has decided to send their leaders for the programme by promoting them
to upgrade themselves to perform an outstanding performance. Meanwhile, the
managers should often to monitor and guide their subordinates when they faced some
problems or difficulties. By motivate their employees, managers should also
implement ethics awards by awarding them with some incentives, bonuses, and
holiday leaves to certain good behaviour and outstanding performances. Moreover,
according to “Connecting You to what Matters Most” (2019), Digi company has also
been awarded and accolade as an acknowledgement by the global investors and
analysts who cover Malaysian entitles in the survey conducted by the Malaysian
Investor Relations Association (MIRA). Hence, giving some ethical awards to the
employees will motivate and encourage them to be better performed and more
hardworking in contributing to the company. Subsequently, this will help the Digi
company to boost up their profits and enhance their reputation of the organization. In
short, managers should be fairly on rewards their employees based on the contribution
to the company and this will increase their confidence in performing their jobs.
On the other hand, the core value statement of this ethics programme is to increase the
quality of services to the customer with more efficiency and effectiveness. This is
because all the employees have gone through an effective ethics programme by
approaching them with the right ways to improve the tactics of serving and
communicate with their customers. Furthermore, this programme with a good core
values statement will also bring higher revenues to the company due to their
customers are satisfied with their services and integrity towards their customers.
However, the company could be able to maintain their regular customers. Thus, by
developing the employees' leadership style through this programme with a good core
value will get the respect of their customer's base and also be able to flourish the long-
term operation of an organization. Simultaneously, if a company has good core
values, the company might be able to improve its financial statement at every end of
the year. Eventually, great images of the company will be kept up and will give
clients a great conviction and certainly to us. Digi’s Sustainability Data Book 2019
has showed that Digi has served 9.4 million internet customers with 13.8 GB average
monthly data usage on its network. In 2019, Digi has expanded the network access to
10,000 networks sites with 9,610 kilometres fibre network. Digi’s 4G network

when it won the awards of ‘Best Mobile Network Operators (MNO) Provider’, ‘Best
Consumer Satisfaction’ and ‘Best Quality of Service’ in MCMC Star Awards 2018
and the increased in profit before tax.
Digi has expected its employees to act with integrity and avoid unethical manners
which would breach the Code, Policies and Manner and affect the company's
reputation. Thus, Digi has established the policy and manual about whistle-blowing. It
has provided a platform to its stakeholders and general public to share their concerns
anonymously and report any practices that breached the Code of Conduct through
Integrity Hotline. Whistle-blowers’ personal data would be protected in this Integrity
Hotline and the access of concern report is restricted in order to guarantee the
confidentiality of the reporters. Company’s Internal Audit and Investigation

within the company by having a Code of Conduct and amended it in 2018. A ‘Speak-
Up Programme’ introduced in 2016 and ‘Speak Up Campaign’ in 2019, keeps on

range of 30 to 45 days. Besides, the launching of Integrity Due Diligence (IDD)
platform in 2019 is used to support company in performing background checks on
new business partners in terms of their integrity and enhancing the company’s risk
assessment exercise. Digi promotes a high ethical and transparent business at the
