Internet Access: The Salisbury COA has six upgraded computers and monitors in our lab. We
also have a fax machine and copy machine available. The Computer Lab is open to the public
Tues.& Thurs. 9:00 to 2:00 and Fridays till noon. We are Wi-Fi enabled for your convenience.

One on One Computer Class Friday mornings: Call to schedule your 1 hour one on one
appointment. Learn basic Internet and Email functions. Learn about Search Engines and how to
find what you are looking for! Learn email, including opening attachments and adding your own
attachments, such as a photos or other documents. Taught by UMass Lowell intern.

Internet Instruction Class Mondays, 10:00 to Noon

Learn to browse the internet, set up a FREE email account. Our Instructor, Laura, will have
handouts each week to help you find fun & interesting web sites to go to. This class will take
easy, slow steps to connect you to the World Wide Web! Learn to set up a personal Facebook
page as well as uploading digital images of your pictures. This will be a classroom setting
although you may also receive one on one attention as well.

Intermediate Computer Training: Wed 8:30 to 10:30 or 10:30 to 12:30. thru Mar 16th.
Microsoft Word &/or Excel will be offered depending on interest. Course is focused on the basic
application, it is preferred that applicants have had some previous basic training or at least be
familiar with basic computer functions. Instructor is Tom Keane. Pre registration required.
Class is limited to four students per class. Fee for each session is $3 for Salisbury residents and

Apple iPad Demonstration Wednesday, February 2nd @ Noon

The iPad is a perfect device for those who get confused and frustrated by the traditional PC/mouse
combo. With the iPad you can access the internet, send/receive email, read and purchase books,

Movie Matinee Wednesday March 30 noon

Share an afternoon with us as we watch a movie, Flight to Freedom. Filmed by National
Geographic, it depicts the movement of hundreds of animals from Southern Africa to

A nurse will be here to take your blood pressure, and
discuss any concerns you have. Blood sugar testing
will be done by AMR American Medical Response.

Hot Lunch: served each weekday at 11:20 at the
Hilton Center. Suggested donation is $2.00 per meal
for a person 60 and older. Reservations must be

the Center twice each month. She is available for
private appointments to discuss your health

AARP Tax Prep Help
Tax season is here and Tax Assistance is available
through the April 15th filing deadline day. This is a
volunteer service and designed to those with limited
income. Virgil our volunteer tax preparer from AARP
Tax Assistance Program is back this year.
Appointments are required and can be made by

bring photo ID, all necessary papers, including last

MVRTA Medi-Ride
The Merrimack Valley Regional Transit Authority
(MVRTA) is implementing a new Medi-Ride
transportation service for MVRTA customers to
travel on Thursdays from the Salisbury Senior Center
to the Lahey Clinic and to hospitals in the City of
Boston for access to their medical appointments. The
Medi-Ride service is being supported with a federal
“New Freedom” grant. This service requires at least
seven (7) day’s advance notice to reserve a ride.
Each Thursday, clients who live in Salisbury the area
will be served with one vehicle traveling to the Lahey
Clinic and one vehicle traveling to Boston Medical
Centers. Pickups and drop-offs will only be made at
the Council on Aging.
Clients should make medical appointments in Boston
that start only between the hours of 11:00 AM and
1:30 PM. All customers will ride the AM bus trip to
Boston, scheduled to arrive in Boston by 10:30 AM.
The MVRTA bus will begin circulating at 2:00 PM in
Boston to pick up persons having completed their
appointments, departing Boston no later than 3:30.
Clients should make medical appointments at the
Lahey Clinic that start only between the hours of
10:30 AM and 2:00 PM. scheduled to arrive by 10:15
AM. The MVRTA bus will depart the Lahey Clinic
no later than 3:00 PM. The rate of fare for all
MVRTA Special Services eligible individuals will be
$8.00 cash one-way or $16.00 cash round-trip.
Anyone who is registered as a MVRTA Special
Services customer, will be eligible for the MVRTA
Medi-Ride Service. ADA-eligible individuals will
have reservation priority. All MVRTA Medi-Ride
customers must be pre-registered to use the service.
Customers who are not current MVRTA Special
Services users must register with the MVRTA Office
of Special Services at telephone
(978) 469-6878, “Option 3”.
Registration must be completed and the data entered
in MVRTA’s reservations system prior to any
reservation for the MVRTA Peabody/Boston Medical
Service being accepted. Clients should allow at least
three weeks for the application to be processed and

Transportation: COA Van is available to seniors for transport to local

appointments; The Van operates Monday, Tuesday from 8:30 am to 2:00 pm.
On Wednesday the Van provides transportation to Market Basket Plaza and
Wal-Mart Plaza in Seabrook. Pickup begins @ 9:00 a.m. The cost for shopping is $4.00 donation
roundtrip. Confirm pickup time when you call. Make your reservations at least two working days
in advance by calling (978) 462-2412.
Ring & Ride: Curb to Curb transportation for Salisbury residents for shopping, visiting friends,
running errands, going to and from medical appointments, or to and from work, the Ring & Ride
allows clients to commute within Salisbury and throughout Amesbury and Newburyport, this van
service also accommodates wheelchair clients, program operates from 5 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday
through Friday and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturdays. Reservations must be made at least 48 hours
in advance by calling 978-469-6878 option 3. There is a $2.00 fee each way.
