1.)LOCATION

Absolute: 36.3932° N, 25.4615° E

Relative: South East of Athens, Greece

South of Bulgaria

South East of Turkey

2.) PLACE

Physical: -Comprised of hills, rugged mountainous


landscapes, sandy beaches

-Mild winters, cool summers

-Longest coastline in the world

Human:-Villages are perched on the edge of the caldera


-Religion that is practised: Orthodoxy

-Greek is the most common language spoken

-Because it is surrounded by the Mediterranean sea, fishing is

a very common activity

-Transportation: by foot or by bus

3.) INTERFACE

Volcanic eruptions shaped most of Santorini's landforms:

-Houses are built to fit the shape of the mountains

-Santorini's primary industry is tourism because of its beautiful

waters, landforms and architecture

-The island sustains a wine industry based on the indigenous

grape variety it provides

Humans have damaged the environment:

-Pollution is a very big issue in Greece due to air emissions

from transport and overexploitation of its water resources

4.) MOVEMENT

Migration of ideas is done through:

-Watching television (limited channels)

-Reading the newspaper for current events

Transport of goods and resources:

-Done by boats to transport to different islands

-Sometimes donkeys are used to transport

resources within the town

5.) REGION

-Santorini is surrounded by water and has hundreds of houses and

buildings made of stone and marble

-Town of Thira is the home to an active volcano

Formal region:

-The islands are under the jurisdiction of Greece's government as well

as the the waters and mountains that separate them

Functional region:

-Economic activities: Tourism, Fishing, agriculture and wine industry

Perceptual region: Santorini is known to have the best wine in Greece
