I. The statements found below describe the functions of various punctuation marks. Categorize them accordingly using
the following codes. [Note: some codes may appear more than once]
P – period S – semicolon SQ – single quotation mark
Q – question mark CL – colon A – apostrophe
E – exclamation mark H – hyphen D – dash (em or en)
C – comma QM – quotation mark

1. An end punctuation mark that is used when asking or expressing doubt.

14. A punctuation mark used to enclose titles of essays, shorts stories, books, or songs within the sentence.
15. A punctuation mark generally used to separate items in a series.
16. A punctuation mark used to separate items in a series in which the items already include commas.
17. A punctuation mark used to set off expressions or quotations within a quotation.
18. A punctuation mark used to set off slang words or expressions.
19. A punctuation mark used at the end of a sentence introducing a long quotation.
20. A punctuation mark used to set off nonessential clauses.

II. Read the following sentences and identify any misused or missing punctuations, specifically in the usage of comma
[code: C], colon [code: CL], or semicolon [code: S]. In your exam booklet, create a table similar to the example provided
and fill the columns with the necessary answers. In addition, write NP if no punctuation should be found at the end of
each underlined set of words.
