IMPACT OF CYCLONE ON WEST BENGAL
1. West Bengal is a state where there is a lot of cultivation . So when
a cyclone hits the state, all crops get destroyed.

2. Homes get broken, People get dislocated, causing a lot of

accidents and innumerable deaths.

3. It results in a short circuit, causing power failure and blackout for

hours.

4. Trees get broken, hence blocking roads. Also the winds block a
driver’s view and creating possible chances for serious accidents.

DISASTER : ‘CYCLONE AMPHAN’

1. . It was a cyclone happened in May 2020 during COVID 19 crisis.
2. Due to the crisis, people couldn’t be evacuated from key points,
hence the state suffered a lot of loss.
3. Winds were blowing at 130kmph, which broke a lot of trees and
many people couldn’t be evacuated in time.
4. It was third super cyclone which hit Bengal

WHAT TO DO WHEN THERE IS A

CYCLONE?
 During a cyclone
1. Turn off all electricity, gas and water; unplug all
appliances.
2. Keep your emergency kit close at hand.
3. Bring your family into the strongest part of the house.
4. Keep listening to the radio for cyclone updates.
5. If the building begins to break up, shelter under a strong
table, bench or heavy mattress.
