Nowadays, computer literacy is a must in any field of industry. In order to be
at par with others globally, this research aims to alleviate the computer literacy level
among Grade 12 SMAW and Dressmaking students of General Climaco National High
School in terms of Microsoft word, excel and PowerPoint. The respondents of the study
are 40 Grade 12 SMAW and Dressmaking students selected using simple random
sampling. Pre-experimental research design was utilized by the researcher in which
pre-test and post test were administered. Since the researcher used self – made test, it
was validated by NCII and TM1 holders and was subjected to Cronbach’s alpha for
reliability testing. It was discovered that the respondents fared poor and very poor in
manipulating basic computer commands. Thus, computer- aided instruction was
implemented. After the intervention, data are analyzed, interpreted and treated using
frequency, percentage, weighted mean and t – test for dependent samples. The
intervention was found to have a significant impact on the performance of the students.
It has been recommended for the teachers to continue integrating computer literacy
among Grade 12 SMAW and Dressmaking students and across subject areas to further
enhance student’s skills in MS Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
