DESCRIPTION OF THE LEARNER: The learner is either a male or female above 18 years of age consulting in the emergency room

due to pain, respiratory


diseases, or scheduled operational procedures, requiring deep breathing and or coughing exercises. He or she is able to speak, read, and understand Tagalog and
English, and is of any educational attainment. The patient is willing to learn about deep breathing and coughing exercises.

LEARNING NEED: Deep breathing and coughing exercises.

LEARNING DIAGNOSIS: Knowledge deficit: deep breathing and coughing exercises related to lack of exposure.

GOAL: The patient will be able to demonstrate correct deep breathing and coughing exercises.
