Slow Light, Daniele Genadry’s first major solo exhibition in the region, is ‫ وهو يتمحور‬،‫«ضوء بطيء» هو عنوان املعرض الفردي األول في املنطقة للفنّانة دانيال جنادري‬
dedicated to her concern with light movements and the animation of sight. Slow ‫ يشير مصطلح «ضوء بطيء» إلى العملية‬.‫الضوء وبتحريك الن ََّظر‬ َّ ‫حول اهتمامها بحركة‬
light is a term that refers both to the photographic process that propagates ‫ كما إلى النظرة القادرة على الوصول إلى حاالت‬،‫الفوتوغرافية التي تنثر ال َّذبذبات البصرية‬
optical pulses and to the gaze that is capable of accessing intermediary states

From drawing to silkscreen, light projections and painting, Genadry’s images ‫ص َور جنادري إلى‬

undergo processes of migration from one medium to another. Images appear ‫ وبالتالي فهي‬،‫التوهج وال َعمى‬ ‫الص َور من بني حلظات‬

in between moments of glare and blindness, thus relating to the hazards of

sensitive awareness but also to tensions produced by what is there and what
we perceive. .‫ونعاينه‬

Often drawing from landscape imagery, the works aim to reveal light as both a ‫ إلى ال َكشف عن الضوء كق ّوة‬،‫ملناظر طبيع ّية‬

material and a saturating force, as both a conveyor of visibility and as a blinder.

Genadry’s paintings relocate photography to its earliest stages, by capturing
light at a wide range of speeds. This capture of light is achieved through the ‫ يتم حتقيق‬.‫بسرعات متفاوتة‬
ٍ َّ
‫ وذلك من خالل التقاط الضوء‬،‫الفوتوغرافي إلى مراحله األولى‬
negation, blurring, disappearance, and unstable recognition of the painted ‫ ومن خالل اإلدراك املتقلِّب‬،‫َّغشية واالضمحالل‬ ِ ‫الضوء وضبطه من خالل اإلبطال والت‬ َّ ‫التقاط‬

The spatial installation provides the necessary conditions for a slow sight
،‫الضوء‬ ُّ ‫يقوم التَّجهيز املكاني لألعمال في معرض «ضوء بطيء» بتوفير‬

and prepares the viewer to experience the different velocities of perception
when confronted with the painted surfaces. The acclimation of sight and the ‫ من‬.‫السرعات املختلفة لإلدراك عند النَّظر إلى األسطح املرسومة‬ ِّ

is being seen into a cognitive and perceptive experience of light itself.
