1.4 Classification of hostel building
1. Youth hostel : Richard Sherman’s idea of hostels rapidly spread overseas and eventually
resulted in Hosteling International, an organization composed of more than 90 different
youth hostel associations representing over 4,500 youth hostels in over 80 countries. Some

parents with their children, whereas others are more for travelers intent on learning new

2. Independent Hostels: the word independent is used to refer to non-HI hostels Boutiqu

3. Boutique Hostels: The phrase "boutique hostel" an often-arbitrary marketing term typically
used to describe intimate, luxurious or quirky hostel environments.
4. Mobile Hostels: Though very uncommon, a mobile hostel is a hostel with no fixed location.
It can exist in the form of a campsite, a temporary building, bus, van, or a short term
agreement in a permanent building
1.5 Special under hostel builiding
Hostel buildings are divided into two groups as follows:
1. Government hostels
2. Private hostels
Government hostels:
I. Spaces under this group of hostels are rectors office,rectors room,entrance lobby,two beded
room,four beded room,study room,tv room, gym space,kitchen and dinning etc.
II. They are limited and run by government college and government department (army).
III. This are inexpensive hostel.
IV. Limited functions are being provided.
Private hostels:
I. Spaces under this group of hostel are rectore office, rector room,entrance lobby,twobeded
room,four beded room ,study room, gym space,kitchen and dinning, first aid room, library
room etc.
II. They are not limited and run by orivate college and private firms offering hostels
III. This are expensive hostel.
IV. More function are being provided as compared to government hostel.
