Mrs. Mulholland: About Me
Mrs. Mulholland: About Me
MULHOLLAND
STUDENT TEACHER
Hello! My name is Mrs. Mulholland and I will be the student teacher in your child's
classroom this year. I am very passionate about teaching and learning and I am excited to
share this journey with you!
About me
I was borned and raised in Nanaimo, BC on the traditional unceded territory of the Snuneymuxw
people. I completed my BA degree at VIU in 2016 with a major in Indigenous studies and a
teachable subject in Phys.Ed. In 2017 I had a baby and took a break from school and I am now in
my final semester of the Education program. I am currently employed with School District 68 as
an Education Assistant, Boys and Girls Club as an after school care leader and PacificSport
Vancouver Island as a sport leader.
Interests
I enjoy spending time outside as much as possible walking my dog, biking with my family and
gardening in my backyard. I love to keep busy and thrive on organization. I love rainbows and orca
whales. I love playing sports but unfortunately I had a sport injury and a knee surgery which has
impacted my ability to play most sports. My favourite sport to play is basketball and my favourite
sport to watch is hockey. Go Canucks!
Goals
Making a Difference
I aim to be a memorable and supportive teacher that my students and their families can
depend on. I don’t believe that there is only one way to be a great teacher; however, I am
determined to find my way and be the best teacher I can be! I want to share my passion for
making a difference in the world and in the lives of others, however small the difference may be. I
want to inspire kindness, empathy and positivity within each of my students.
Learning
students in choices about how the classroom will be run and what
we will be learning. I will promote and facilitate place based learning by
taking my students outside as often as possible. I will aim to offer a
multitude of instruction and assessment practices to ensure all of my student’s various needs are
being met. I will promote the “growth mindset” in my classroom to help students change their
thinking from “I can’t do this” to “I can’t do this yet”. By using this approach, my goal is to help
students persevere through their learning journey and understand that making mistakes is an
essential part of learning.
"Even adults can learn a lot from being around young children. Their
questions, imagination, creativity and curiosity they have about the world can
help us learn new things every day. I am beyond excited to begin my teaching
journey and inspire young children to be the best versions of themselves, doing
everything I can along the way so support them."
