THE TELL-TALE HEART
The Tell-Tale Heart was a short story by American writer Edgar Allan Poe. It
has been told by an anonymous narrator who has long been convincing the reader
of his sanity at the same time he has been describing a murder he committed. The
victim has been an old man with a transparent "vulture eye", as the narrator has
called it. The narrator has emphasized the careful calculation of the murder, and
has hidden the body by dismembering it and hiding it under the floorboards. We
have been analyzing two main themes in The Tell-Tale Heart which are guilt and
insanity; from the point of view of the narrator who has been our protagonist and
murderer; He has been seeing death as a kind of liberation.
The old man's damaged eye has been disturbing him, it has been terrifying
him ... to the extent of taking him as an enemy who was hurting him. It became his
obsession. I have been researching the author and it has been said that he is a
man who suffered a lot; that he had a clear depression in addition to being an
alcoholic and addicted that would explain why the darkness at the time of writing.
I have never been to the end of understanding the reasons for these human
behaviors, I only have to learn to live and detect psychological flaws in order to try
to stop such dishonorable events as this story espectáculos us.
