1.1 Overview
As the network element management system supports concurrent login of multiple users
via different clients, the mutex right ensures that only one user can perform operations on
a Network Element via a client at a time.
When a user applies for and obtains the mutex right on an NE via a client (for example,
client A), a green lock icon ( ) appears besides the NE node in the Managed Element
Tree on client A, indicating this user can perform operations on this node and all its child
nodes. Correspondingly, a red lock icon appears before this NE node on other clients (for
example, client B), indicating the mutex right on this NE has been obtained by another
user.
In the Configuration Resource Tree, the following mutex right operations are supported
on a managed element:
l Applying for the mutex right
l Releasing the mutex right
l Managing the mutex right
Steps
1. In the Network Element Tree, right-click a managed element node, and select Apply
for Mutex Right.
– End of Steps –
1-1
Result
The icon appears beside the managed element node, see Figure 1-1.
Prerequisite
You have obtained the mutex right on the managed element.
Steps
1. In the Network Element Tree, right-click a managed element node, and select
Release for Mutex Right.
– End of Steps –
Result
The icon besides the managed element node disappears, see Figure 1-2.
1-2
Steps
1. From the main menu of the Configuration Management window, select
Configuration Management > Mutex Right Management. The Mutex Right
Management dialog box is displayed, see Figure 1-3.
2. In Mutex right information, all the created managed elements are listed.
1-3
The icon indicates that the mutex right on the corresponding managed element has
been granted to a user.
l Click Select All. All the managed elements in Mutex right information are
selected.

Context
Figure 2-8 shows a configuration file template in EXCEL format for quick configuration data
import. For how to fill in this template, refer to Section 2.8, Creating a Configuration File
for Quick Data Import.
Steps
1. Right-click a network element node in the Network Element Tree, and select
Configuration Data Import. The Configuration Data Import dialog box is displayed,
see Figure 2-9.
2-12
Note:
Find the parameter configuration files in the following path:
$\WOMC\ums-clnt\deploy\template
a. During the progress, right-click the import item displayed in the information box,
and select View Detail. The Detail Information dialog box is displayed. You can
check the import progress and result.
b. Click Pre Step to go to the Configuration Data Import dialog box.
The following operations are also supported in the Configuration Data Import dialog
box.
l Delete: cancels the data import and delete the configuration file.
l Open the folder of the result file: opens the folder that saves the import result
file.
2-13
5. Click Cancel.
– End of Steps –
Steps
1. Open the configuration file template in your computer, see Figure 2-10.
Note:
The Result column records the import result of the record. The column does not need
to be filled in.
The fifth line of each sheet indicates the attributes of the parameter in the
corresponding column:
l Primary Key: indicates the parameter is a primary key that must be configured.
l R: indicates the parameter is read-only.
l W: indicates the parameter is writable.
l I: indicates the parameter must be configured.
R-W-I indicates the parameter is readable and writable, and must be configured when
managed elements are created for a Network Element.
2-14
2. Select a sheet in the template, see Figure 2-11. Each sheet name indicates a type of
managed elements.
Note:
l The TemplateInfo sheet records the telecommunication mode and the version
information. The configuration file import is performed if the template version is
confirmed with the system version, otherwise, the import operation will stop. This
sheet must not be deleted or modified.
l The Index sheet records the managed element names and their corresponding
sheets. This sheet helps users to navigate to a sheet. The sheet must not be
deleted or modified.
l The MOC sheet is a sheet type recording the MOC data to be imported, for
example, the UUtranRegArea sheet and the ULocationArea sheet.
3. Enter the operation types in the first data grid for the MODIND column, see Figure
2-12.
2-15
Note:
The following four operation types are supported:
l A indicates the corresponding parameter values will be added to the database of
the Network Management System after the configuration file import.
l D indicates the corresponding parameter values in the database of the Network
Management System will be deleted after the configuration file import.
l M indicates the corresponding parameter values in the database of the Network
Management System will be modified after the configuration file import.
l P indicates the parameter values in the current line has already been imported.
They will be skipped in the current import operation.
4. To the right of the MODIND column, add columns for the parameters to be imported.
5. Save the configuration file.

3.1 Overview
This chapter describes the auxiliary functions used to maintain the configuration data for
managed objects of a Network Element. The following functions are supported:
l Comparing two managed objects
l Duplicating a modify area or a snapshot area
l Querying parameters

counterpart element for right-side managed object.
l : indicates the element for the right-side managed object do not have a
counterpart element for left-side managed object.
