JOINT STATEMENT

Authors: China, Sri Lanka, DPRK, Pakistan

1. We condemn loosely mentioning sovereignty as something that could be granted on

allegations of Human Rights which are false.
2. China is a sovereign nation that holds absolute claims on Tibet ever since the promulgation of
its provisional constitution in 1912, Article 1 of which explicitly mentions Tibet as a part of
China.
3. This unification has further been cemented via the signing of the 17 point agreement by the
Tibet Local Government and The Chinese Central Government under no coercion or undue
influence and thus must be respected as it is by the global community.

4. The growth in Tibetan economy and its modernization is unprecedented and the same deserves
appreciation globally, given that the economy is growing annually at the rate of over 12.4%
annually.

5. It is pertinent to mention that, sovereignty has also been maintained or guaranteed by the 17
point agreement which does protect the cultural rights of the community.

6. The government in exile for Tibet has never asked for complete freedom from the PRC.
Regional autonomy under current circumstances is already maintained.
