PERSONAL REFLECTION #1

The teaching of the second language has always been very varied in my life. Over the years
I have seen that the approaches used by my teachers to teach me were quiet and powerfully
useful. School has been a powerful tool that has helped me in my personal, cognitive, and
professional development. The learning that I have been able to acquire has been evidenced
through behaviorism learning since the teachers who gave me classes took the task of
verifying and carefully observing if their teaching was being captured by me. The
environmental conditions in the classroom were something very significant since any
behavior of the teacher, my classmates and the handling of the class resulted in behavior on
my part. For example: when I had my English classes and I did not understand very well,
the teacher at that time never made a gesture or any behavior where can affected me in a
negative way, on the contrary, she did everything possible for my understanding, she was
doing exercises in which I felt comfortable as the repetition of words; besides, my teachers
made my competitiveness grow by running contests and earning points by guessing the
correct form of the verb and learning from my mistake to put aside the mistrust when
speaking in this foreign language. On the other hand, methodologically speaking,
constructivism has been a heavy weight, , since it has allowed me to be much more
autonomous and develop a focused mind and configuring my experiences in knowledge.
According to constructivism learning, the classroom experience was an invitation for a
myriad of different backgrounds and the learning experience which allows the different
backgrounds to come together and observe and analyze information and ideas about me, the
teacher and my partners, something very significant that I have been able to take in my
teaching practice. In brief, my experience learning English has been very satisfactory even
though the approaches once used were hard but effective. Now I can say that thanks to that
I know what I could do or not do in a classroom and in my performance as a teacher.
