Abstract. Platform construction GTS (Gathering Testing Sattelite) is offshore construction platform with fix pile
structure type/fixed platform functioning to support the mining of petroleum exploitation. After construction
fabrication process platform was moved to barges, then shipped to the installation site. Moving process is generally
done by pull or push based on construction design determined when planning. But at the time of lifting
equipment/cranes available in the work area then the moving process can be done by lifting so that moving activity
can be implemented more quickly of work. This analysis moving process of GTS platform in a different way that is
generally done to GTS platform types by lifting using problem is construction reinforcement required, so the
construction can be moved by lifting with analyzing and checking structure working stress that occurs due to
construction moving process by lifting AISC code standard and analysis using the SAP2000 structure analysis
program. The analysis result showed that existing condition cannot be moved by lifting because stress ratio is above
maximum allowable value that is 0.950 (AISC-ASD89) . Overstress occurs on the member 295 and 324 with stress
ratio value 0.97 and 0.95 so that it is required structural reinforcement. Box plate aplication at both members so that
it produces stress ratio values 0.78 at the member 295 and stress ratio of 0.77 at the member 324. These results
indicate that the construction have qualified structural reinforcement for being moved by lifting.

BACKGROUND
Offshore construction is a construction that was built in the water location which serves to support the process of
mining exploration or exploitation of petroleum and natural gas located shallow ocean waters and deep sea, in practice
the offshore construction can function as exploration platforms, production platforms, distribution platforms and rigs
accommodation.
The process of building the offshore construction work is different from the construction of buildings that were
made on land. If the building construction process carried out in the same place while the offshore construction is
done in different places at the installation location.
With consideration of economic issues, building site offshore cultivated as close as possible to the installation
location. But there is also the location of manufacture and installation locations are island or even different countries.
Such as the West Seno TLP platforms, primarily structures made in companies Hyundai Heavy Industries, South
Korea, while the location of the installation is in the Makassar Strait, Indonesia.

The Transfer Process by Pulling

Platform is transferred from land to the ship. This process is done slowly to avoid uncontrolled movements. This
process involves many workers, tools and equipment as shown in Fig. 1.

The Transfer Process by Lifting

The process of removal by this method can be done with lifting equipment / crane which has a large lift capacity.

Formulation of the Problem

On completed through the fabrication process, the construction of the GTS platform will be moved on a barge in
a generic way to do that is by pulling or pushing.
At the time of tool lift/crane available, construction removal process can be done by lifting way so that the process
of moving is carried out with a relatively faster. In this study the problems that occur when the removal process is
carried out by means of lifting are:
x If the construction is strong enough to be moved by lifting?
x Is it required additional structures or structure reinforcement in certain parts so that the construction can be
moved by lifting?

Research Purposes
The intent and purpose of this paper is as follows:
x To analyze the strength of the structure if the transfer process is done by lift.
x To calculate the necessary reinforcement structure so that construction can be removed by lifting.

Benefits of Research
The benefits of this research are:
x Reference for implementation of the transfer of offshore construction by lifting way for similar work.
x Knowing construction part which requires structure reinforcement so that the construction can be moved by
lifting.

Scope of Problem

x Writing limited to a static analysis of offshore structures GTS types.

020023-2
x Calculated Analysis is stress analysis that occurs at construction structures during lifting process based on the
standard American Institute of Steel Construction Allowable Stress Design 9th Edition(AISC-ASD89).
x Research limited on the analysis of moving process of GTS platform with four lifting points as is done in the
lifting process GTS platform in general.
x Type of steel strap (sling) used were not analyzed. Assumed capacity sling used has met the required standards
strength.
x Stress analysis of the structure does not include stability ship analysis and lift/crane capacity.

Analysis result showed an excess stress/overstress at beam 295 and 324 (Fig. 4.10) with the stress ratio value
exceeded allowable voltage ratio value of 0.95. Stress ratio value at beam 295 and rod 324 are shown in steel design
table as follows.

Structural Modification
Because there are two beams that overstress it is necessary to modify the structure so that the construction can be
moved by lifting. Modifications can be done in two ways: Replacing the profile size and adding structure
reinforcement on weak beam as described below.

Replacing the Profile Beams 295 and 324

Profile replacement process is done by replacing the overstressed beam with larger size profile that is to replace
beam 295 and 324 into size WPG 750 with consideration stress ratio value that is produced does not exceed the
maximum stress structures (beam 69) with value of the voltage ratio 0.82.
This methode is suitable for new construction so that the replacement of the profile can be determined before
construction begins. Analysis result shows profile replacement produced stress ratio value less than the maximum
ratio of 0.95 as shown in the following.

Profil Cross-Section 295 and 324 Reinforcement

In addition to replacing profile size modifications can be done by increasing the strength of the structure in the
required part by adding plat material to beam 184 and 324 on the left and right sides of the beam (box plate).
This selection can be performed on existing constructions in a condition where it has been determined that the
platform should be moved to a different location by lifting.
To make reinforcement on the beam 295 and 324 (reinforcement plate) is done by adding plat material on both
sides of the stem plate (box) as shown picture 4.9.

CONCLUSION

Based on the analysis, the conclusion as follows:

x The GTS existing structure cannot be removed by lifting without structure modification or reinforcement
because the value of stress ratio occurring on the beam 295 of 097 > 0.95 and the beam 324 of 0.955>
0.95.
x The construction can be transferred by lifting with modification or reinforcement of the beams 295 and
324 to increase the capacity of structure strength, the modification can be done in two ways:
o Replacement beams profiles 295 and 324.
If the GTS construction is new construction that is being planned, the replacement can be done on
profiles 295 and 324 of the profile W21x62 to be WPG profile 750 with the results of the stress ratio at
the beam 295 by 0.71 <0.95 and the beam 324 by 0.67 <0.95.
x Beam 295 and 324 profile reinforcement
Beam 295 and 324 structures reinforcement is done if GST construction is existing building as
follows:
o To make structure reinforcement at the beam 295 by adding thick plates of 12 mm on both sides of
the profile (box plate) of 500 mm length so that the stress ratio value can be lowered from 0.977 into
0.780.
o To make structure reinforcement at the beam 324 by adding thick plates of 12 mm on both sides of
the profile (box plate) of 500 mm length so that the stress ratio value can be lowered from 0.955 into
0.77.
