N.B. When necessary to make “TC” Hardware Settings fitted the protective cover plate
present on the same rear side operation.
The setting options described in this chapter must be used according to the ANV Part
Number plus the ICS Evolution, which shows the “ON” (CLOSED) position. Those
setting options in the table are indicated by the caption for factory use only should never
be modified.
The Hardware Settings can be executed after having checked by using the presetting
indication presented in this chapter.

EASE2000 Dip Switch Settings
The following describes the switch positions on the EASE2000 board when used as a
First Level Controller (FLC) in conjuction with ESCT2000. In this configuration, the
database and local configuration management is as follows:
• the active database instance is located on the EASE2000 board
• the local configuration is stored on the ESCT2000 EEPROM. A copy of the local
configuration is stored on the EASE2000 disk
• the switches on the mother board of EASE2000 are used for controlling the database
and configuration management

The optical monitor output is a direct tap from the main coupler output with a power of
-20 dB ±3 dB (including PDL) with respect to the main output over the entire wavelength
band. The output power wavelength dependency between the main and monitor port is
within ±¦0.7 dB.
IMDX0040 Common Specification
IMDX0040 separates even channels from odd channels on the nominal 25 GHz grid.
IMDX0040 has only one filter which can operate either as a multiplexer or demultiplexer.
Therefore, it is not necessary to differentiate IMX from IDX parameters. Optical
performance parameters are the same for both the multiplexer or the demultiplexer.

N.B. ALCT units are available for the bands from 2 to 12 : band 1 is not used at all for
submarine systems. As a consequence, the ALCT Band 1 is not needed.
ALCT101x is a tuneable unit over the 50GHz nominal frequencies in the C+ band.
The ALCT101x board contains a single ALC loop (Tunable Laser + VOA + photodiode)
• The tunable laser is used to provide an optical power range of minimum -19 dBm to
maximum +10.5 dBm
• The VOA allows an optical attenuation of 30 dB
• The internal photodiode is used to monitor the optical power at the output of the board
and to regulate the output optical power

Each port card or access card of the equipment is provided with a bicolor (green/red) or
three–color (green/ yellow/red) LED ( ) on the front coverplate. This LED indicates:
• Red - internal failure
• Green - in service unit
• Yellow - board in firmware download state (TRBD, TRBC, CMDX, BMDX, IMDX,

Rack Alarms
Some equipment alarms are carried to a connector and used to light–up alarm rack–lamps.
Rack alarms are physically available on the RAIU board connectors.
The Top Rack Unit (MA-NGTRU) has four front panel LEDs: Urgent, Non Urgent,
Attended, Signal Presence. Those LEDs are managed by the RAIU boards of a rack,
except for the last one which indicates that the power is ON. The topr tack units have four
DB-25 connectors so that the RAIU boards of a rack can be either linked together or
directly connected to the Top Rack Unit.
In NEs composed of more than one rack, the Topr Rack Unit of the master rack shows
both the HW alarms of the rack and the summary of the NE alarms. The Top Rack Unit
LEDs in secondary racks only show the HW failures of the rack (from the FANS or the
power supplies).
HouseKeeping Alarms/Commands
A set of housekeeping contacts are available, located on the 25–pole connector of the
housekeeping board.
Alarm Attending
The detected units alarm condition can be stored through the ACO (Alarms Cut Off)
push–button on the ESCT unit (Attended). This operation will turn OFF the general red
LED “URG” and will light up the “ATTD” yellow LED on the ESCT unit (Attended); the
attended command is also sent to the rack lamps (if present) through the RAIU board.

details of the alarms for each card and relevant indications are described in the Operator’s
Handbook.
Connection with the PC is achieved through the 9–pole connector (F interface) on the

V VCAT
Virtual Concatenation
Defines an inverse multiplexing procedure whereby the contiguous bandwidth is broken into
individual Virtual Containers (VC) at the source transmitter and logically represented in a Virtual
Concatenation Group (VCG). VCG members are transported as individual VCs across the
SONET/SDH network and recombined at the destination VCG receiver. While contiguous
concatenation requires concatenation functionality at each network element, virtual concatenation
does not.

meters between routers, switches, and DWDM systems.
...................................................................................................................................................................................................................................

typically measured in nanometers (nm). The wavelength is related to the propagation velocity and
the frequency. (Also called lambda).
WB
