Case of an Innocent Girl in Unvirtuous System

Child Rape in Nepal

Domestic and sexual violence against women especially young girls are prevailing in Nepalese society.
Last couple of years has shown a numerous data of rape and the most effected victim of this inhuman
behavior is no other than girl just under 10 years residing in remote areas. Rape cases are increasing by
four-fold affecting those innocent people physically and emotionally.

The following annotations is based on the rape case of an innocent girl followed by her brutal murder.

Annotation 1
“Family mourns, and a country recoils at teen girl’s rape and murder”
The rape and murder of Nirmala Pant and the failure of law enforcement to diligently investigate the
perpetrators have angered and stunned Nepalis across the country. Now the 13-year-old girl’s parents
say they are starting to lose hope.

The above annotation reflects the laconism system in giving justice to the family whose daughter
became the victim of rape. At the meantime, the content inside the annotation also flashes out the
struggling life of single mother to raise her children in a hope that her offspring could live a sound life
although her divorced partner supported her financially. But who knew those dreams will go in vain in a
blink of an eye. This unsolved case has again united the youths to advocate on behalf of bereaved family
against law enforcing and the system to bring culprit as soon as possible.

This is a strong statement given by female president of Nepal during the national children’s day to
address the issue of rape and murder of 13-year-old girl. The above annotation is taken from” President
call for injustice to Nirmala”. After the 60 days of incident, the authorities being handicapped not able to
punish the culprit. Therefore, president is annoyed with the slow outcome and warns all the
stakeholders to help in bringing the culprit under the purview of law.

If a country suffers from the social crime and the victim being no other than an innocent girl, obviously
everyone wants to see the justice being given to victimized one’s. Consequently, when there is an
article of president enforcing all those people involve in solving the case to bring the culprit then
suddenly you can see the huge potential on bringing the change among people. Society existing in the
form of patriarchal and women being oppressed, gender equity is almost absent. Resulting the women
being the victim of social evils. But now it’s the girl who had just started her teen age suffered from rape
and murder. Now the whole country is shocked, what is happening here?? Something needs to be done
quickly. So, at the same time you see the president speaking, then you can feel the desire of change in
the society. Therefore, the annotation has great impact on societal norms and perceptions to be change
with women from male members i.e. they are also the part of society and shares equal participation in
bringing up the family.

Protest emerges when there is an extent of unfairness in the world. And when there is not only a
common consent of community but rather than nationwide gender abuses, yes protest is bitter way to
pressurize concerned authorities as done by the social activist group by carrying card and pamphlets.
The above annotation is the strong sentence written on pamphlets in road protest government at
Maitighar Mandala of Nepal. When the government including law enforcing bodies are delaying finding
the culprit of rape and murder of 13-year-old girl and the families are losing hope with government, the
protest was conducted by social activists to pressurize the government for providing justice to victimized
family too.

This protest has had an enormous amount in motivating people especially young generation which can
easily be seen in video. Rather than coming up with group agenda, this protest has collected every
people to raise the voice to turn against inhuman behavior. And those who are not able to come they
did their job from their respective areas. Raising collective voice in capital city supporting middle class
family residing in remote areas gives boost to those women who keeps on enduring anti-social activities
against them. These women after seeing the protest will feel that there are activists fighting for our
rights which corresponds in encouraging them to break their endurance to against unfavorable
activities.

Street protest from history, has always brought a change in policy system whether it was a Gandhi Salt
March or African-American protest against racism. Mostly, when there is a case of women and gender
violence issue every country has strict laws and rules if it is implemented accurately. And if not, then this
type of protest occurs with people carrying such bold pamphlets. Yes, gathering of social activists in such
protest will attract the policy makers and force the government to provide justice to victim.
