PARONDA ALVANNA G.

ASSIGNMENT 3 MODULE 3

STARTING POINT : RAPIDE, 1920 ORTIGAS AVE EXT.

END POINT : SANTO DOMINGO, CAINTA RIZAL
ON OUR CHOSEN ROAD WHICH IS THE ORTIGAS AVENUE WHICH EXTEND TO 15.5 KM FROM
EATERN METRO MANILA TO WESTERN RIZAL. ONE OF THE BUSIEST HIGHWAYS IN METRO
MANILA.
VARIABLE ON TRAFFIC AND
VEHICLE :

The location that i picked was exactly 1

km from the starting point to the ending
point. By experience a lot of vehicles
ranging from motorcycles, tricycles,
jeepneys, private cars or trucks are
passing by at this road. Most of the
time traffic are always present on this
road. The loads can be divided into a
number of groups and the
stresses, strains, and deflections under
each load group can be determined
separately; and used for design
purposes. The traffic and loading
factors to be considered include axle
loads, load repetitions, and tire contact
area.

TYPE OF PAVEMENT:

I think by looking at the variables and the situation, the best type of pavement
for this highway would be FLEXIBLE PAVEMENT. The initial cost of mixing and
applying flexible pavement is low and with excellent regular maintenance, it has
a lifespan of about 10-15 years. Flexible pavement is applied in extremely thick
layers, which gives it the ability to withstand heavy and more frequent traffic
flows, which makes it the ideal choice for major roadways and highways. Flexible
pavement are more cost-efficient and only needs to be repaired or replaced
once every decade or so. While rigid pavements typically have a lifespan of 30
years, they require a great deal of maintenance in order to make them last that
long. Flexible pavements tend to have more layers and are therefore much
thicker by default.
