Bello Footwear started their journey in February, 2016. Two young souls named Salman Bin
Firoz and Sabrina Rahman started this handmade footwear store after completing their
graduation in Marketing. Both of them had a plan like opening such store from their under
graduation time. They started after having a good market research and today it has 8 zonal
offices all around Dhaka city and have 20 office employees and 12 factory workers and have
freelancer deliverymen. Currently they are coming with different varieties of men’s and
women’s footwear. They are introducing and coming up with new designs every now and then.
Considering the handmade footwear industry in Bangladesh, handmade footwear has a very good
potential as people are more into inclusive products now. Considering this, they initiated this
business with 5 lac Bangladeshi taka and a few people for backend work.

Entrepreneur Salman always wanted to be his own Boss. He never wanted to work under
someone’s order. That was his first intension. Secondly, he was always passionate about handy
materials and shoes. Using this, he was thinking of starting a business which will be handmade
shoes and with the help of his finance he wanted to design all the shoes. He took help from his
finance and his close friend. His friend had a factory in Narayangonj which is belong to him
now. He started to hire labor from different shoe factory and he, he trained them, developed their
skills, and taught them how to make handcraft shoes by using pure leather. He followed Italian
design because his target group was young men and university going students because they are
more passionate about shoes. Then he started to export in Nepal, Saudi Arab, India and now
thinking of exporting them in Australia. As he said before he never wanted to work under
someone. He was always determined about his passion and he chose it and worked for it and he
is successful. Cultural influence is very important to meet the trend what is happening now days.
It is helping them to meet new challenges and they are going with it.

Salman got himself prepared before starting his business. Yes, he also analyzed the situation of
that market. Before starting his business he observed that in our country people are more likely
to use western design rather than old model. After having 3years’ experience in Ramel Travels as
an Executive he knew he needs to follow market screening model to know the product demand
before introducing the business. That’s why the business reached its break even in its first eid
offer. Although He had a business plan, he knew his primary competitor is Dhaka boot burn,
Azoba and secondary competitor is Bata. However their USP (Unique Selling Proposition) was
handmade and unique designed hand stitched products. It took around 8 months to set his
business and start selling.

He agrees that the adaptability is very essential for any business. It helps to solve any ambiguity
due to change of an environment of any business. It helps to create a workforce to solve
challenges of any critical environment if any business face. He has not changed any of his
business plans after starting to sell products; however they kept on coming up with new designs.

He listened the customer’s problems, their actual needs and tried to solve their problems by
changing the according to the customer needs. To understand customers and give them a good
standard service they recruit people considering: Education, Experience, Willingness/ strong
intension. They always try to give the customer the best product with minimum price. He knows
that there is lots of opportunity to move on to new products or new design. That’s why; he is
always up to date about what is happening now and what customers are looking for. His
intension is to give the updated design and products to the customer. They have some unique
characteristics which made them stand out among competitions. An all-around created,
