A very special thank you this week to our
Women’s Ministry team for preparing and
serving a fellowship meal to our congregation
last Sunday. They worked extremely hard to

make sure we got a wonderful meal and
could experience a time of fellowship togeth-
er. I really appreciate their efforts, and I want
them to know that we are all grateful for their
ministry to our congregation.
I also want to thank you for your gifts to
the Janie Chapman State Mission offering.
For the 2019-2020 church year, we gave a
total of $1,402.95 to this offering. Although

that was short of our goal, it was a good giv-
ing effort for this COVID era.
Speaking of mission giving, here are the
totals for all of our mission offerings for the
church year October 1, 2019 through Sep-
tember 30, 2020.
1. Lottie Moon Christmas Offering for Inter-
national Missions: Goal:$8,000, Giv-
en:$7,869.23.

$1,155.
That’s $17,069.68 over and above your regu-
lar tithes and offerings that goes directly to
the mission field. I appreciate your desire to
support the gospel going out all around the
world through your sacrificial giving.
We will observe Global Hunger Day
(formerly World Hunger Day) on Sunday, Oc-
tober 11. Latest figures tell us that
690,000,000 people or 8.9% of the world’s
population are undernourished. Every penny
of the offerings we give to Global Hunger

goes to help people in our nation and our
world have enough to eat. If you wonder
whether or not your gift makes a difference,
realize that combined efforts of ministries
around the world have enabled the percent-
age
hungry to decrease from 15% in 2004 to
8.9% in 2019. I want to encourage you to
begin praying about giving an offering to help
feed the hungry in our world. Every person
we feed physically will experience the love of
God and hear about Him from the missionar-
ies who are feeding them.
A ministry idea that has come from our
deacons is what we have entitled the
“Thomas Project.” The “Thomas Project” is
designed to reach out to people who, like the
disciple Thomas, have doubts and sincere
spiritual questions and are seeking the truth.
Hopefully in the future, we will be able to offer
“Thomas Project” meetings face to face
where people can ask questions and we can
offer Biblically based answers to their ques-
tions. At the present time, with all of the
COVID situation, we are planning to offer
sessions online once a month through Face-
book live. On Sunday, October 11, we will be
conducting a “practice run” during the sermon
time of the worship hour. This will help us as
we prepare to do this live each month, and it
will help you as you learn how to answer the
tough questions so many of us are afraid we
will be asked by someone who is seeking
answers about Jesus. Please be praying for
us as we prepare for this ministry “kickoff.”
Our plan for Trunk & Treat this year is to
do a “drive-thru” Trunk & Treat for our com-
munity. We will put candy in individual bags
and pass them out to children as their parents
drive them through our parking lot. If you
would like to help with this ministry, you may
donate candy, or if you prefer, money for us
to purchase candy, at anytime until October
25. You may bring your donations by the of-
fice. Monetary donations should be placed in
an envelope marked “Trunk & Treat” when
they are turned in to the office. Thanks for
your participation in this ministry opportunity
to our community.
