    Scientific Method

    1. Problem/Question
    State the question(s) the experiment is trying to solve.

    2. Observe/Background Research
    Gather information about the problem, the materials, and
    Thiswrite down background
    Photo by
    research before the experiment.

    3. Hypothesis
    Predict what will happen in the experiment.
    Identify variables and controls.
    Write a clear hypothesis in 1-3 sentences.

    4. Experiment
    List supplies and equipment used to conduct the experiment (materials).
    Describe the detailed step-by-step process on how the experiment will be
    performed.
    Conduct the experiment.

    5. Results/Record Data
    While conducting the experiment record quantitative data.
    During and after the experiment record qualitative observations.
    If possible graph results.
    Make sure to conduct the experiment and record results at least three times.

    6. Conclusion (This should be a 6-8 sentence paragraph.)


    Restate the hypothesis and determine if it was correct, explain why or why not, and
    summarize the results. Finally, suggest improvements to the experiment.
