First 30 Days
Get To Know the Organization

 Meet the Executive Team and understand what their key objectives are and
expectations of my role
 Meet direct reports and understand current responsibilities and objectives
 Scheduling meetings with other key people in the organization to introduce
myself and understand their roles
 Review annual reports and quarterly Board reports for last 3 years.
Understand how business is being done today
 Become familiar with company systems, software, products, markets, and
customers
 Determine what key metrics are being used to track business performance
 Review the current budget, historical financials, fiscal year
objectives, targets, and 3-5 year strategic plan
 Complete company required training and learn the company’s protocol

First 60 Days
Assessment of Performance

 Understand company’s employee performance review and appraisal process.


This is key to performance improvement and upgrading talent
 Participate in team meetings and ask to join the teams where I can contribute
 Start visiting plant locations to meet key plant personnel
 Assess performance of current supply chain and identify opportunities to drive
value creation and improve free cash flow:
– Order Management Policies – Sales Forecasting
– Supply planning – Capacity planning
– Net Working Capital Efficiency – Service (On-time delivery)
– MRP – Production Planning & Procurement Planning
– Logistics Strategies and Costs – Manufacturing Strategies and Costs
– SAP problem areas – Education and Training needs
– S&OP Assessment – KPI Scorecard
 Begin defining long term supply chain strategies and goals
 Get feedback from Executive Vice President, Operations on progress

Propose Strategy/Plans For Long Term Improvement

 Summarize Top 10 challenges to supply chain excellence


 Summarize Top SAP issues and priorities
 Revise supply chain vision if needed
 Propose revised supply chain strategies to increase free cash flow
– Making SAP Work for the Business
– Integration of supply chain with the business
– Differentiated Supply Chains
– Operational Excellence
– Complexity Management , Product Portfolio Management
– Network Optimization
 Assess talent and possible changes in organization responsibilities and
objectives
 Summarize education and training needs
 Update KPI Targets if needed, create Balanced Scorecard
 Present first 90 day findings and proposed actions to Executive Team
