National mass protest against systematic American racism
MINNEAPOLIS — Protesters
in Philadelphia stood on the
steps of an art museum and
demanded cuts to the city’s
police budget. A crowd gathered
outside the Minnesota governor’s
mansion stood silently to
hear stories from victims of
police abuse. At a huge rally
in Washington, demonstrators
filled the streets, and speakers
cried out to ensure that a death
like that of George Floyd under
the knee of a Minneapolis police
officer never happen again.
Demonstrations across
America that began as
spontaneous eruptions of
outrage over police violence
appeared to have cohered by
Saturday into a national mass
protest movement against
systemic racism, marked more by
organization and determination
than by street fury.
Protesters vowed to keep
up the momentum toward
overhauling what they said was a
broken law enforcement system
plagued by racial injustice. Some
took credit for changes that have
already occurred in some cities.
In Minneapolis, which has
been convulsed with protests
for the past 12 days, city
officials announced measures
on Friday that are meant to
rein in aggressive police tactics,
including a ban on chokeholds
and strangleholds. And in
Denver, a federal judge issued a
temporary restraining order on
Friday to restrict the use by the
police of rubber bullets and tear
gas on protesters.

the forefront of the national
discourse,” said Mary Levy,
50, a law professor at Temple
University who was part of a
throng of protesters outside the
Philadelphia Museum of Art on
Saturday afternoon.
Many of the this weeks
gatherings appeared larger than
previous rallies, especially the
one in Washington. At one

Outside Lafayette Square,
where federal law enforcement

was more like that of a street
fair or a music festival. Cookies
and Cool Ranch Doritos were
arrayed on folding tables, and

Black Lives Matter T-shirts. Even
portable toilets were on hand.
Marchers on 16th Street
did a coordinated dance, “the
wobble,” as the rapper V.I.C.
blared through speakers. North
of the White House, a Shake
Shack handed out water.
For all that, the black chain-
link fences forming a perimeter
around the White House
grounds had been reinforced

with concrete Jersey barriers,
and security personnel from an
alphabet of agencies, including
the National Guard, stood by
in a kaleidoscope of uniforms,
braced for any trouble.
Joelle Mitchell, 17, was
unfazed as she made her way
toward the White House. She
had been working at a dog day
care facility outside Annapolis,
Md., all week, and this was her
first day to join the protests.

Fifty years in the music industry makes Manyeruke a legend beyond measure

OLD age is not a disease, it is
strength and survivorship, triumph
over all kinds of vicissitudes
and disappointments, trials and
illnesses, wrote Maggie Kuhn.

The statement is apt in

describing the gift of long life that
some people have. While some
people usually grow frail with old
age - others seem to gain more
strength.

One of the few people, who

have refused to be outdone by old
age and a wizened body, is veteran
gospel sensation Baba Mechanic
Manyeruke whose energetic
performances on stage remains the
envy of the young.

Most of today’s newer artists

cannot even match his performance
standards and the dynamic,
unsympathetic and ever-changing
music industry seems to have failed
to phase him out.
All what it means - therefore - is
that his music has remained quite
relevant.
“There is no secret to my success.
I was born to be what I am and I
simply reflect on it. I am simply
an African and on stage I simply
perfect my originality,” said the
legendary vocalist and guitarist this
week.
A gospel icon to reckon with -
Baba Manyeruke as he is popularly
known in the showbiz circles - has
dedicated his life to gospel music
and has no doubt grown to become
one of Africa’s all timegreats and
revered musicians.
With 50 years in the
music industry, his continued
performance on stage fulfils his
“God-given” mandate to entertain
and educate people through music,
probably in line Duke Orsino who
proclaimed in Shakespeare’s book
12th Night that: “If music be the
food of love, play on, give me excess
of it: that surfeiting, the appetite
may sicken, and so die.”
He is in love with his music - and
the faithfull man in him - as he
refers to himself, has kept going for
long in the showbiz industry.

age and failure to keep up with the
musical trends - Baba Manyeruke
believes that without music - his life
would be meaningless.
“You can’t stop me from singing
because that’s my life - that’s what
makes me tick. Without singing
I will die. It’s like locking me into
something where there is no air
coming through. I didn’t set out to
become a musical star: music drew
me - music called me. I don’t know
how to explain it, but it is in my
blood,” he said.
“When I started going to school
in 1955, it was an Anglican church
school St Patricks Mission in
Gweru. By that time many churches
were not allowing guitars to be
played in the church,but because
some other church leaders in the
Salvation Army started to embrace
the playing of guitars,” he said.
This is when he came face to face
with his fate in the entertainment
industry after he penned one gem
after the other and since then he
has never looked back.
And perhaps guided by the
axiom that a candle loses nothing
by lighting another candle he has
not been so stingy with his wealth
of experience.
He has passed on the baton
to youths aiming to emulate his
colourful career and it has yielded
results for many while spurring his
career to dizzy heights.
“I have worked with the likes of
Isaac Chirwa, who was already in
the industry. Gideon Zamimba who
was still young then. Brother Sam
etc most of them are now producers
sharing great music ideas,” said the
gospel icon.
Most of his songs are laced with
gospel culture appreciation lyrics,
and he said reflecting on one’s
culture was of significance.
Manyeruke said it was necessary
for youths to compose songs that
spoke volumes of their culture and
indigenous African tradition.
“Young people must keep on
singing indigenous African music
because that’s what the world is
looking for. And they must keep on
composing beautiful new tunes. I
am glad I have crafted a legacy for
the young generation that will live
and be remembered even when I
pass on. This goes to show that I am
not a dying person.
“Yes, my body is going to perish
but I will still be around. It makes
me happy knowing that I will leave
my shadow behind. I know my
music will remain etched in the
minds of my fans and it gives me
pleasure,” he said.
Probably his ability to keep
in touch with his roots has kept
him going in the music industry
and has also seen him contribute
to Zimbabwe’s music industry as
evidenced by the songs such as
Nyika Yakanaka, which emmulates
and sells Zimbabwean riches .
Manyeruke however encouraged
the young up-and-coming
generation to be humble and be
true to their work.
“The word of God truelly teaches
us to be humble. Its true the
young generation is being carried
away,with the worldly pleasures,its
not gonna take them any where,
they need to be true to themselves
and value their work”.

George Floyd did not die in vain. His

demise is a strong message to the world

NEWS is never far away from

Zimbabwe Digital News. This
week has been characterised
by protests in the the United
States of America. How odd. A
protest in the world’s foremost
democracy? Stranger things have
happened.
It has been a dark week for
most of us across the the globe.
In this day and age we are still
being confronted by human
injustices have been brought to
light as they were being buried
in the Amercan backyard.
Who would ever think that
one human race would think
of another as lesser. Of all the
nations in the world. Who
would think that the United
states of America would be the
epicenter of racism.
Apart from being ravaged by
Covid-19, we now have to deal
with this dark side of humanity.
The entire world woke up to
disturbing news. The death of
George Floyd shhould not be in
vain.
It was very agonising, by just
looking at the visuals alone - a
whiteman suffocating the lights
out of a human being in broad
daylight. Very disturbing
Our brother’s life was
squeezed out of him, it was
punctured out of him. Sucked
out by force,
The world is indeed full of
evil minded people. People who
are working on eliminating
others from the face of the earth.
Social, racial , ethnic
and economic development
injustices all are being used by
such to disturb peace among
humanity. I am sure most of
those in Africa grew up, with
the American dream in mind,
the land of opportunities, the
land of hope, milk and honey.
Even when we judging from
Hollywood blockbusters - life in
America is like a fairy tale
But racial problems have
always been a big issue. Racial
discrimination - from way back
has been a big problem. At this
point the world can’t breathe
because of this stench of racism.
The air itself that we breathe
has been fouled - and the world
can’t breathe.
Because of Covid-19 - we
can’t breathe. Because poverty,
climate change and so forth - we
can’t breathe.
Black people (Negroes as they
would be called in those shores)
have been denied access to good
education, good healthcare,
better housing - and we can’t
breathe.
And so forth.
In the past we have seen
movies like (Separate But Equal),
coming out of Hollywood and
trying to raise awareness on
racism.
This is the time when we
should be probably saying
goodbye to lockdown scare
tactics.
But instead we have protests
that have now gone. And there
is no-one who seem like they
can stop it.
People are heavily under the
dosage of Covid-19, and we shall
be sick for some time.
The authors of this TV show
must be asking themselves.
What’s next?
You see humans are not
meant to be controlled. To
be put in crates like beer.
To be packed in boxes like
merchandise.
George Floyd’s death opened
another chapter which, the
world never saw coming.
This is a touching story. To
all of us. As people we must be
allowed to protest this treatment
by the other races and classes.
Could this the hand of God?
Finally saying something? Is he
passing judgement? To those
who mock him?
I still believe that Donald
Trump mu eat humble pie and
be humbled by it.
I tell you, the day of the bad
seed has come to be plucked out
of the storage.

Tamuka Investments
brings financial
relief to struggling
Zimbabweans

On 20th March 2020 Zimbabweans

received the much dreaded news,
they had hoped they would never
hear.
In a televised announcement
Health minister Dr Obadiah Moyo
announced Covid-19 had finally
reached the country’s borders.
Three days later Zimbabwe
recorded its first Covid-19 death.
The death of Zororo Makamba
was a real wake up call to the
authorities and Zimbabwe at large
thus, placing the authorities in a
dilemma on whether to save lives
or the economy.
As the number of infections
gradually increased President
Emmerson Mnangagwa
announced a 21-day lockdown
which began on 30 March, in a
bid to manage the spread of the
pandemic as social distancing is
currently the only reliable and
effective method of containing
Covid-19.
Under Statutory Instrument 83 of
2020 all residents were to stay at
home with the exception of those
providing essential services as per
the state guidelines.
The implementation of the
shutdown left the majority of
Zimbabweans in both the public,
private and informal sectors
exposed to various financial and
social challenges due to limited or
no savings at all.
Having heard the people’s
plight, a group of Zimbabweans
in the diaspora came together
and pooled funds through
Tamuka Investments in order to
supplement the eroded incomes.
According to the founder
of Tamuka Investments, Dr
Tamuka Chidyausiku, who is
affectionally known as Dr Muk the
#ZIMCOVIDrelief initiative had to
date assisted 22 beneficiaries.
“For the month of April the
tamukainvestments.com/donate
fund awarded 7 families with
#COVIDrelief stipends. During
May however; because of my
Instagram fam’s generosity during
#HipHopBiochemistry, we were
able to award all 15 of the families
who applied,” he said.
Beneficiaries interviewed across
the country could not hide their
joy and were appreciative of this
gesture given that their coffers
were virtually empty.

Police, opposition officials, and a headquarters in dispute
SENIOR MDC leaders, including

the building occupied by rival
faction this week, resulting in a
confrontation with police, and
arrests.

Zimbabwe’s main opposition
party after they attempted to
enter its headquarters, which is
being occupied by members of a
splinter faction.

Democratic Change (MDC) has
been divided since the Supreme
Court ruled on March 30 that

Zimbabweans die
in False Bay after
drinking kachasu
GroundUp is reporting this week
that some Zimbabweans died in
Masiphumelele, False Bay this week after
drinking homemade brew.
Colonel Andrè Traut of SAPS Western
Cape Media Centre confirmed the
deaths, saying: “The circumstances
surrounding the death of six male
persons aged between 35 and 49
are under investigation after they
allegedly consumed homemade beer
in Masiphumelele. Eleven Zimbabwean
men were admitted to False Bay Hospital
where six succumbed to death. Four
men are in critical condition and were
receiving treatment at False Bay and
Victoria Hospitals. Death inquest case
dockets have been registered and
the exact cause of death is yet to be
determined.”
A further update received from the
Western Cape Department of Health
indicated that there were 11 patients
altogether.
Details of the poisoning, including the
manner in which the methanol was
consumed, the origin of the methanol,
and the area of residence of those who
were poisoned could not be confirmed at
time of publication.
Zimbabwean woman
arrested after body of
six-year-old is found in
cane field
SowetanLive is reporting that six-year-old
Alexia Nyamadzawo's body was found in
a sugarcane field in KwaZulu-Natal this
week. Ths body was found in a sugarcane
field in Riet Valley, just outside Glendale,
north of Durban. Police spokesperson
Brig Jay Naicker confirmed the body of
the Grade 1 pupil had been located by
members of the SA Police Service K9
Search and Rescue Unit. Naicker said
this follows the arrest of a 42-year-old
woman in connection with Alexia's
disappearance. It is understood the
arrested woman was known to Alexia and
could possibly be related to her.
"Police received a report at Umhlali
received a report about the kidnapping of
a six-year-old child."
The mother said when she approached
a speed hump near Shayamoya, an
unknown man opened the door of her
vehicle and snatched the six-year-old,
who was asleep on the rear seat.

Beware of being keyboard warriors in the black lives matter movement
We who live in Africa
have gotten used to
equally atrocious acts
being perpetrated
against us

ON THE 25th of May George
Floyd, an African American from
Minnesota was killed during an
arrest. A white American cop is
seen in a video that went viral
on social media, pressing his
knee on Floyd’s neck for up to 9
minutes while Floyd begged for
relief and calls out that he could
not breath. Floyd latter on dies.
I was outraged when I saw
the clip, to say the least I was
terribly disturbed that I had just
witnessed another black man
murdered by another white cop
for no logical reason other than
the fact that a white cop chose
to kill him.
The fact that all this was
happening in America did not
even register. It shook me all the
same. I felt rage, and I stressed
over issues of racism in my
head. I am an African – living in
Africa.
As we have all seen , social
media has been awash with
this issue and black lives matter
hashtags have been dominating
face book walls and instagram
posts. Twitter is blowing up with
the topic, people are outraged. In
America protests have erupted,
and the wave has even spread
to other parts of the world –

The global Covid-19 pandemic
has had a negative impact
on Small, Micro and Medium
Enterprises (SMMEs) and many
are faced with the prospect
of not reopening post the
lockdown restrictions due to the
domini effect arising from their
respective value chains.
The tourism sector is a good
example where the SMMEs
tend to be at the bottom of the
value chain and as the global
companies shutdown operations,
SMME activity was not spared
the brunt.

Sloane, over 55 000 SMMEs
will not survive; and 42 350
employees employed by SMMEs
are set to lose their jobs.

friction: many Africans have
begun to sound their disapproval

gotten used to equally atrocious

us, by those who have the same
skin color as us. Tribalism and
xenophobia can account for
many public murders.
Most of us have seen video
clips of a black person being
set on fire by another group of

equally disturbing as watching
an African American being killed
by white supremacists.
But are those who say we
must not stand with black
lives matter justified in saying
so, because we have the same
support SMMEs to focus beyond
the interim relief measures and
look to facilitate sustainable
recovery.
With or without the relief
funding, the small business
owner will have to relook at
how they can compete in this
changing environment in order
to survive. The need to impactful
recovery and growth plans has
become more relevant than ever.
Critical Components of an
Impactful Plan should include:
Vision. One’s vision for the
business and two:
Core competencies and
market opportunities. What you
do well, what value do you offer
relative to competitors, who
wants it, what else can you do
that you may have missed?
In execution of your
programme, have a clear
vision coupled with aligned
competencies and opportunities
is great and essential. However,
without effective execution, all

We know that many from
the west have sacrificed much
to fight for causes here in Africa
that were not theirs, but they
sacrificed much to join with us.
It is so reckless to say that we
should not fight with them now.
But it is even worse, rather,
it is a big farce, if we in Africa
become keyboard warriors
for the black lives matter
movement, while still looking
the other way, even as the
innocent blood of our own
people soils the ground where
we tread everyday.

Chinese murdered as racial tensions run high in Zambia

THE trail of blood outside the
warehouse door was the only
immediate sign that a murder
had taken place.
But CCTV footage seized
by police, and seen by CNN,
revealed a brutal afternoon of
carnage.
At midday on Sunday,
May 24, three Zambian
attackers with iron bars
entered the grounds of
a Chinese-owned textile
warehouse in Lusaka. Police
said they were pretending to
be potential customers.
But the trio did not want
to do business.
Over the next 17
minutes, the CCTV footage
shows, they beat two men
and one woman to death

past a woman’s place was in
the home. She was under the
tutelage, first of her father and
then of her husband. Her main
duties were to be a wife and a

to man the home. Women were
therefore trained to become
good and submissive wives as
the primary goal was for them
to get married. Education was
secondary and getting employed
was not an option for women.
If a woman escaped the
homely duties to become an
artiste or do some other things
that were not in the parameters
of manning a home it was an
exception to the rule.
Today there are many women
artistes although there are a few
great female creative artistes that
have been identified worldwide.

Artistic skills
She mentioned that even
though she was slowly getting
into the art world it was not easy
for most women as they have
a challenge in penetrating the
industry.
“There are few women even
though I believe that we are
equally as good as men. Well I
believe that in order for women
to make it there they should
be tough and strong in the art
world because it’s a tough world
for them. But I do want to go to
that world, because it’s beautiful
in its way and challenging, it’s
like climbing a mountain,” she
said.
WeUtonga said she is hoping
to inspire the young in future
and by using her artistic skills
she has a number of up and
coming artists that she as
groomed.
“We actually have a lot of
female musicians, well groomed
and doing all their best to bud
but it’s a tough road. The few
that are given the opportunity
either so not live that long
to sustain or they remain the
same. While promoters will give
someone who has never been
a singer a chance, for female
musicians that occurrence might
just never happen
She added that female
students should not be
discouraged by their parents’
choices but should strive to do
what they know best. She also
encouraged parents not to stand
in the way of their children’s
professional choices but rather
advise and support them.

payments, initiate withdrawals,
and purchase airtime, electricity,
and Netflix vouchers amongst
other features.
The wallet also allows
borderless transactions to be
performed and this is designed
to help when people send
money home to their loved ones
Many foreign nationals
living and working in South
Africa do not have access to a
transactional account.
According to the World bank,
access to a transactional account
is the first step towards broader
financial inclusion and it serves
as the gateway to these other
services.
The Extra News campaign
was designed by UhuruWallet
to highlight that individuals
in South Africa can now easily
perform transactions digitally,
and in the process build a digital
footprint which may be useful
in allowing them access to other
financial services.

opportune time as Bitkesh had
begun to slow down.

receiving a lot of traffic again
post-launch and as a result of the

BEAUTY pageants are
indubitably the most imperative

However, it now seems Africa
is steadily but surely establishing
its authority in the world of
beauty events, with Zimbabwe’s
Ronald Matora Tisauke, leading
the way as the founder of Africa’s
biggest international beauty
pageant, Miss World Global.
A former model himself,
choreographer and trainer –
Tisauke said the Miss Heritage
World idea came about whilst
he was working as a promoter
for Jamaican based modelling
franchise, Miss World Global
International.
“Because of the economic
hardships back home, I
entered pageantry full time as
a promoter working with Miss
World International based in
Jamaica. Together with my
partner – Tare Munzara – we
realised we could also run
our own international beauty
pageant, and also, due to the ill-
treatment that we were receiving
from another pageant whom I
were in Victoria Falls carrying
out a research on how the
beauty pageant system works,
when the light-bulb moment
of our identity, Miss Heritage
Global, came about. We knew
our weakness quite well so we
decided to capitalize on our
strengths which included a few
good corporate relationships and
“strong heads,” he said.
Furthermore, Tisauke said
that they used various mediums
such as Facebook and interviews
on radio – to promote their
upcoming beauty pageant
events despite being frequently
turned down by the Zimbabwe
Broadcasting Corporation (ZBC).
“The key platform we
used to market ourselves was
Facebook and numerous radio
interviews. At that time, a new
television channel had been
recently launched so we decided
to approach the ZBC because
we had noticed the had little
content.”
“Furthermore, in 2013, we
showed our obstinacy by being
a pestilence to the ZBC until
they finally gave us a television
deal for the coverage of our
first Miss Heritage World even.
However, our excitement was
short-lived as we faced copyright
infringement charges, after our
aggressive online marketing
caught the eye of the Miss World
beauty pageant who were not
happy about it all,” he added.
Miss Heritage in Africa
Tisauke also said the
copyright charges against them
were eventually dropped by
a court ruling which thereby
enabling them to continue with
their beauty pageant project
although they continued to
face skirmishes from other
adversaries.
Despite all the challenges
Miss Heritage Global faced,
founder Tisauke, supplemented
that the franchise has and is
still continuing to grow by the
day as it is now Africa’s biggest
international beauty pageant.
Also – Tisauke added that
the Miss Heritage Global
Headquarters are now based
in South Africa as well as six
editions having already taken
place across African countries
such as Ghana and South Africa.
We have now held six
editions of the Miss Heritage
World with the last one being
held in Ghana where we hosted
fifty-four delegates from all over
Africa. The event was airing live
on various television channels
including European and Asian
countries. Also, we have penciled
the next edition of Miss Heritage
Global in Vietnam” he said.

The rule of love should be applied in the same way as rule of law
If love is what we have
been teaching, we
would have taken time
to illustrate why the

THE WORLD today understands
good governance as the rule of
law. That is to say, the law must
equally be applied to James as
it is applied to John, without
selection, discrimination,
fear or favour. A cursory look
here reveals that the law is
not applicable unless there
is a driver, for example, a
complainant.
Consider here a case of
murder. For there to be a
sustainable case, the State needs
to take the role of a complainant
such that the matter is
prosecutable. Basically, if there
is no complainant, then there is
no case.
The world today is full
of leaders who have taken
advantage of this huge loophole
and went on to commit
crimes without anyone able to
prosecute them.
To complement the rule of
law, I propose adding love. Love
based rule of law seems to me
a more plausible method than
limiting a system to rule of
law, when considered with the
following three considerations.
First; in Africa, the vision of
a national or organisational
programme is normally carried
by a leader. This has brought
about personalisation of
programmes.
This is why one hears
dissenters complaining that the
objectives of the organisation
have been lost in favour of
personalisation and “a cult” in
the organisation.
One-man leadership
Second; in the case where
the followership has no clarity
on objectives, the leader has
no option but to personally
conceive solutions and act to
check and balance himself.

Here now comes the
trend of one-man leadership,
normally termed strong-man
leadership in cases where
the said man controls State
resources, especially security
services. Third; power corrupts,
and absolute power corrupts
absolutely.
The rule of love does not
prescribe discarding the rule of
law, rather, it simply suggests the
addition of genuine love for the
organisations led by our leaders
such that the very leaders do
not take advantage of people’s
ignorance.
By the rule of love, I bring
forth the observation that, while
collective decision making in
Africa may be a problem for
the reason that “some in the
team may not have clarity of
vision”: the leader must love the
organisation enough to know
when his judgement is cluttered.
That is, a leader in Africa
must always assess his interests
against the interests of the
organisation. When the two
interests begin to diverge,
if the leader really loves the
organisation, it is time to step
aside and hand over certain areas
of control to one of the followers
who could be enlightened at
this point – remember Nelson
Mandela.
African history is cluttered
with leaders who start off well
and diverge slowly over time
to lose the real objective of the
“struggle”.

When the parliament is to sit
and pass a vote, 97% of the
parliamentarians are simply
going to vote for a party position
whether that position makes
sense or not.
At that point, the parliament
is dead as an over-sight body,
and parliamentary democracy is
dead. If parliamentarians are this
devoid of critical analysis skills,
what more of the generality of
the public?

proponents of Mthwakazi
preaching the gospel of hate
against the MaShona people.

This is driven by the residual
pains that are in people
regarding the 1983 – 1987
problems. For the record, those
were indeed difficult times in
Matabeleland and Midlands.
However, leading an
organisation basing it on hate
will only create a destructive
outcome.
Unfortunately, hate has been
at the core of the Zimbabwean
administration in making many
bad decisions, that would of
course satisfy egos, but disrupt
and even decay the economic
function of the country. This
same hate-based attitude has got
a grip on many pro-Mthwakazi
organisations.
The better path is to preach
love and tolerance. This does
not mean that the objectives,
of seeking self-dominion in
whatever form desired, are going
to be disregarded. NO! It simply
means that the people must be
taught to live in love, peace and
harmony, while pursuing the
intended objectives.
If self-dominion, for example,

is attained, then no one in these
areas would face abuse, revenge
or discrimination as a way of
settling historical scores.
Fellow Mthwakazians
Interestingly, if the leadership
of these various Mthwakazi
groups were to espouse love of
all peoples, and teach it to their
people, the discussion about
Mthwakazi would begin to take
a more civil dimension. The
hallmark of civility is the ability
to tread murky paths by dialogue
without the use of violence. A
21st century Mthwakazian has
to learn this important lesson
about social organisations if the
Mthwakazi ideal is to survive.
In as much as we disdain
being marginalised in today’s
economic system, we should
labour to create a system that
is all inclusive for the future
such that the very Mthwakazi
ideal shall not become a vehicle
of marginalising other groups
of people when a position of
advantage is attained.
My fellow Mthwakazian in
Jotsholo, Jambesi, Mberengwa,
Binga, etc may not be
knowledgeable in matters under
discussion here.
And yet some day, that man may
be asked by way of referendum
or otherwise to make a decision
whether or not the Mthwakazi
idea is sensible to him. If hatred
is all we have been teaching,
then I am afraid, he may find it
not sensible.
If love is what we have been
teaching and we would have
taken time to illustrate why the
Mthwakazi ideas could make the
economy better, his livelihood
better, his future better, the
future of his progeny better, I tell
you he will vote for and even
participate in this Mthwakazi
cause.

Chapter One: The
Backdrop
IN 2018 I received a phone call
from my spiritual father Apostle
Nicky van der Westhuizen,
the conversation that ensued
planted a seed in my spirit that
resulted in this book. He called
to ask me to speak at his annual
Five Fold Leadership conference.
He asked me to speak on
the subject ‘Birthing A Mega
Economy’. He said to me “Son
you are anointed to talk about
money and wealth, you are
one of the leading voices on
the subject and I would like
for you to speak to the leaders
and encourage them. I believe
the Lord will use you to help
the leaders find encouragement
during these challenging times.
Please give them practical
steps that they can use to change
their ministries and build mega
economies”
That was such a defining
moment for me because I left
that meeting with a sense of
urgency to hear the heart of
God on the matter. I was also
awakened to the call that is
upon my life, speaking to
the nations on the subject of
financial and economic success.
The trajectory of my life
shifted from that very moment.
I began to see myself speak to
greater audiences composed
of both secular and spiritual
leaders. I became aware of the
urgent need for real solutions to
global crises. As is my habit, I
set out to do an in depth study
of the Word of God in order to
establish how practical the Word
of God is in bringing economic
reformation to nations.
Hezekiah
This was a subject I was
already familiar with to
some extent as a result of
the publications I worked on
addressing this specific topic,
namely The Judaeo Abrahamic
Wealth Factor and Masters Of
The Economy.
God led me to the story of a
leader whose name is Hezekiah.
He was able to move a nation
from poverty to prosperity in
less than a year. This awakened
me to the fact that not only is
it possible to reform a country’s
economic status but that it is the
responsibility of any leader to
do so.
This is why I have dedicated
this book to leaders at various
levels in nations. The message

deeply prophetic in that this is
what the Lord is saying to the

time when God is resetting the
economic environment of the
nations and turning the tables
for a people that have been
unjustly treated for centuries.
Looking at the life of king
Hezekiah helped me understand

was able to take a nation that
was economically contained
because of the foolishness of
his predecessor and build a
mega economy using ten simple
principles that I believe can be

brought about by corruption,
a host of other ills and a lack
of the fear of God in the global
community. It exposes the
Babylonian system that was
birthed to bring injustice and
oppression to the nations. The
writing style is direct and hard-
hitting simply because God has
an urgent agenda for justice and
restoration.
Gardens of Eden
Individuals who desire to
redefine their lives from an
economic perspective and step
into what I call the “season of
heaps” can follow through this
step-by-step plan and walk in
the abundance that God has
prepared for them.
Poverty has a stench in the
nostrils of God and the Lord
seeks to address this scourge
wherever people are willing to

Mike Murdock
My whole life shifted and I
began to pursue this assignment
with all my heart. This has
become the very reason I wake
up and live. Mike Murdock in
his book 101 Wisdom Principles
taught that a person would
never have significant success at
anything that has not become
an obsession.
When I first read this I had a
mild understanding of what he
was saying. However, after that
encounter, this simple statement
took on a whole new meaning. I
am consumed with teaching this
word to the nations.
I cannot find fulfilment in
any other assignment. God
has raised many voices that
have spoken similar words into
the nations and the Word has
reached a tipping point where
we will see major changes in
different nations across the
globe, but I seek to speak to
Africa, the continent that is
taking centre stage in the agenda
of God.
Out of the passion to obey
the calling I have written a
number of books that speak
into the atmospheres of people
who seek to have financial and
economic freedom in their lives.

Is the diaspora proving to be a curse, or a blessing?
In some countries Zimbabweans are beacons of praise and in some they are just a plain nuisance
2 KINGS 7:3-4 “If we say we will
enter the city, the famine is in the
city and we shall die there. And if
we sit here we shall die also. Now
therefore, come, let us surrender
to the army of the Syrians. If they
keep us alive we shall live: and if
they kill us, we were going to die

While not really announced
this is the driving force behind
the beginning of the diaspora
journey- ‘kusiri kufa ndekupi?’ I
took the journey some 16 years
ago when my salary was no
longer enough to pay just for
my transport so literally there
was no reason to work and
there was the famous vendor
statement ‘Nhasi ndaswera ndiri
teacher zvake’ loosely translated
to ‘Today I worked for nothing
like a teacher’.
There was only one option
left for me, diaspora. The only
question was where to.
Wanted England but I arrived a
little bit after the party because
the visa regulations had just
become both expensive and
stringent, Mozambique was an
option but there were bouts of
Malaria and South Africa became
the most obvious option.
With two of my friends
armed with our bags and
certificates plus the inflated
mentality of ‘South Africans are
not educated’ we crossed the
border and the rest is history.
Legality
Entering into any country the
first issue is legality so just one
day into South Africa one would
make the long journey to either
Port Elizabeth, Durban or Cape
Town where the famous asylum
was easily obtained and with
that permit which was renewed
every 3 or 6 months the world of
looking for work then began.
For some it became a dream
come true and for some a
complete nightmare. People
have to lengths to become
legal - with a lot of the people
who could speak isiNdebele
opting to obtain South African
IDs with their names somehow
blended to be South African and
the famous ‘my mother is South
African’ story.
There was then coined the
joke ‘South Africans kill their

and Zimbabweans lie their way’.
But whatever made one legal
was enough it did not really
matter what one had and it
was easier to become legal then
but with the time both influx
and system upgrade have made
legality a nightmare leading to
the now famous chorus ‘illegal
migrants’ but where on earth
would you not find illegal
immigrants, bet if Heaven was
physically reachable they would
make it if they are not already
there.
Benefits of Diaspora
On an international scale
diaspora was for some time thee
thing as the stronger currencies
made it easy for one to invest
back home and support their
families.

a child’ approach and the whole
village literally rallies behind any
child who qualifies to go abroad in
return of helping other children and
the village.
During the last days of the
former Zimbabwean dollar it was
easy to see that there is a family
member in diaspora.
I squared up the balance of
$140 000 of my stand with a
paltry R350. Some people have
made it big in diaspora and
some have both lived in dream
houses and some have driven
dream cars and probably reached
almost their full potential.
Life in developed countries
is normal to a great extent as
basic needs are not a cause for
concern. Healthcare, transport,
food, access to credit facilities
and both social services if you
are legal.
Some found love and built
families the list is endless and
more of personal. A lot of
countries owe a major part
of their lifelines to diaspora
remissions.
The Cost of Diaspora
It would be naïve to conclude
that diaspora is all bloom and
glory. The cost at personal,
family and country level are
phenomenal.

At personal level a lot of
people have lost identity from
name to nationality only to be
discovered when they die or get
caught and they have children
under the new false identities.
Some have lost promising careers
to become pedestrian in their
achievements because diaspora is
not home.
Some have died in
xenophobic attacks and some
have lost their marriages as
marriage was one of the easiest
ways to become legal and who
could remain without a partner
for so long.
Some have traded their
humble characters to crime and
prostitution as ends do not meet.
In South Africa Zimbabweans
have sadly become part of the
heinous crimes problem. A
lot have nothing to remit as
dollarisation swept all value the
rand would bring home.
Families have been broken,
a lot only remain in name and
some family members have gone
out of touch and forgotten.
The moral fibre of the family
is gone. Some cannot even
communicate with their relatives
children and the famous holiday
gatherings are now history.
African countries lose the
best brains overseas and for
Zimbabwe it’s just across all the
borders.

Not that the people who
remain are of no quality but
imagine if all the brains in
diaspora were at home.
Zimbabweans are brains
behind a lot of success in many
countries and I wonder if there is
a country in the world without
Zimbabweans some as beacons
of praise and some as a nuisance.
The Future
I always dream of Jeremiah
23:3 “I will gather the remnant
of my flock out of all the
countries where I have driven
them, and will bring them again
to their folds; and they shall be
fruitful and multiply.”
Could it be also true one day
for Zimbabweans? Our children
and children’s children calling
Zimbabwe home and be in
diaspora as a choice?
With our ridicule wiped off
and we are restored as a great
educated and cultured people
with our land be healed? Will
the chickens come back to roost?
I yearn to live that dream in this
lifetime.

rekindling my love
for the subject of

MOST OF us can remember
back then in the first grade –
when the teacher would ask to
the eagerly anticipating young
minds what they would want
to be in the future. The answers
varied as the imagination of each
of our inquisitive minds.
It was a question that
brought a seemingly distant
future much closer, be it in
the policeman’s uniform or
the banker’s suit and tie, the
imagined future really felt like a
stone’s throw away.
Now, looking back in
hindsight, one can surely agree
that the future we imagined back
then is surely different from the
present we live in now. What
our young minds innocently
failed (and not so innocently
still fail) to understand is the
constant variable of change.

A different approach to the
currency narrative
I largely credit Zim Digital
News for rekindling my love
for the subject of economics
through its currency expert
Collet “Colls” Ndlovu. This man
is phenomenal in his knowledge.
It was him who introduced
me to a simple yet plainly
true epithet: “It’s the currency,
Stupid!” – when he was
describing and addressing the
Zimbabwean economic woes.
At the time I was both baffled
and somehow intrigued by such
a bold utterance. Upon further
study (and a weekly dose of the
Zim Digital Friday Mix), I also

concluded that it indeed lay in
the currency.
His views on Zimbabwe
adopting gold as a currency
also intrigued me, I now with a
strong conviction ascribe to that
school of thought.
There really is a need for
us as a people, as Africans to
provide home based solutions to
our home based problems.
Mr Ndlovu together with the
Zim Digital Media organisation
– I feel – are in tandem with
such a vision and they really
deserve to be applauded for
shifting the focus towards such a
paradigm shift.
Conclusion
We live in world, a global
village rather, that dynamically
changing and challenging us
to sometimes question the
traditional and the norm. The
saddening pandemic further
puts a twist to it all and truly it
is now more than ever that we
indeed “See news differently”.

The truth is Covid-19
has revealed how
vulnerable the
human race is, the
shortcomings and wide
inequality gap and in
other many aspects

THE Corona Virus, Covid-
19 - started in China, Wuhan
province late in 2019. From
February 2020, it spread like wild
fire across Europe with alarming
rates of infections and deaths
in Italy and Spain before the
USA became the epicentre in
terms rates of increase in both
confirmed positive cases and
deaths.
Covid-19 is another
disruptive and destructive
pandemic to emerge out of
China after the 1346 bubonic
plaque – the Black Death
that lasted 4 years killing an
estimated 50-200 million people.
Europe’s population was halved
during that period.
The focus of this article is not
on the cause of the virus or its
cure.
We leave that to the
scientists. The focus is on the
negative impact of Covid-19 on
the world as we know it today.
The severity can only
reasonably be quantified after at
least two years.
Nothing in recent history
has brought the world to a
standstill, complete halt than
this pandemic. Two-year kids
stopped going to early learning
school centres and an eighty-
five year old stopped walking
for early morning exercise. The
change was so sudden like a
lightning strike.
Loss of life
The most devastating impact
is the untimely loss of lives.
One death is one too many.
Many people have lost their
lives and more will before
quicker, responsive cure is
developed or found. Anxiety,
fear and devastation that gripped
individuals were immeasurably
immense.
The truth is Covid-19 has
revealed how vulnerable the
human race is, the shortcomings
and wide inequality gap and

What the scientists will tell us in two
years - about the impact of Covid-19
social life structures, travel and
migration have been impacted
and the consequences.
Importance of
education
First, education. In today’s
world, literacy and education are
the passports to the first door
of opportunities. This is well
understood and accepted, but
here are some questions: Who
is going to get the education?
Is it all – the poor and the rich
parents’ child?
What form is the education
is going to take: home schooling
versus distance learning
or e-learning (video zoom
classroom)?
In the end, the answers to
these questions or conversations
are reduced to the “haves” (rich)
and “have-nots” (poor) class
scenario. And it is that clear the
“haves” will be less affected, and
we see why below.
Classrooms have been
closed
Children cannot go to school.
And there are two alternatives
only: home e-learning and
private teacher schooling. The
“haves” (rich) have electricity,
computers and data for
connectivity. Simply, they have
the money and infrastructure to
continue learning.

Social gathering
They will have tennis courts,
swimming pools and enough
space to continue doing extra
mural activities at their homes.
These all matter in the education
and development of a child.
The majority rural and urban
poor do not have the facilities to
continue with schooling. They
live on a dollar per day.
And the connectivity data
costs a dollar per thirty (30)
minutes. For the poor, there are
no choices – its survival (food)
versus data (education).
Science students require
laboratories with equipment
and tools necessary for practical
lessons, experiments. This
cannot happen in homes. The
infrastructure is not there.
This is the challenge to the
students, parents, teachers and
governments.
Second: Social life structures.
One of the measures that
were taken to curb the spread of
the virus was social distancing.
Public gatherings got prohibited.
Not more than fifty (50) people
were allowed to attend a funeral,
or a church service.

People were discouraged from
being close to each other at the
drop of a pen. No handshakes.
Social distancing, washing of
hands and wearing face masks
were enforced.
Movement of people by feet,
car, bus or plane was abruptly
stopped.
Factories and generally all
retail shops – clothing, electrical
and other except food retailers
were closed. Restaurants were
people would sit, dine and
socialise usually were considered
non-essential services and could
be luxuries of the past.
What awaits the hospitality
industry and associated services
in the value chain is not a guess
but a reality – jobs, many jobs
will be made redundant.
Exercising gyms and all
sporting activities – contact
and no-contact sport were
also affected. Thus there was
no economic activity at all for
at least one month in most
developed countries.
Third and last, economies.
Jobs and industries got classified
as essential and non-essential.
At last Covid-19 brought the
realisation that the most lowly-
paid workers – farm workers and
social work professionals which
include children and old-age
caregivers, nurses, doctors,

police, soldiers, cleaners and the
truck driver or delivery man or
woman – are unquestionably
important and central to life.
Their services were
considered essential and could
not be stopped. Nurses and
doctors risked contracting the
virus as they raced to treat
patients.
Heartbeat of economics
Post Covid-19 what will
the air-travel, hospitality,
retail, sporting and education
industries look like. They will
never be the same again. There
will be changes to business
models – prioritisation:
production, beneficiation,
logistics and inventory.
Efficiency through joint-
ventures, shared services and
co-operations will drive business
profitability and survival.
Businesses are the
heartbeat of economies
What about under-developed
and developing countries’
economies? Africa? Many African
countries had no economic
models working or to present.
African leaders and the countries
they “rule” relied heavily on
Western countries and China to
provide financial aid, technical
assistance and finished goods.
What about the pace of
globalisation? The movement
of people, goods and free flow
of services across countries, seas
and continents will change.
Given the nationalistic
positions taken by the UK
(Brexit) and the USA –
immigration, human rights,
inequality and global trade are
going to difficult to balance. The
gap between the rich and the
poorer countries will grow and
more so in Africa.
As African countries try to
survive, economic colonisation
is going to accelerate. While
superpowers will be fighting
for domination, Africa will be
singing with a begging bowl
for food and aid – financial aid,
used and unused equipment and
goods.
The consequences of the
Corona Virus – inequality,
unemployment, voluntary
liquidation of companies, budget
deficits and trade deficits will
remain with us for many years
to come. The true impact will
only be quantified in at least two
years from now. Let’s innovate.

people will struggle with at some
point in time is learning how
to motivate themselves to stick
with it. Most of us become prone
to falter because of the fitness
myths we hear, be wise and
consult fitness professionals or

When you first begin to
exercise, your motivation might
be high as you are excited about
all the positive changes that you
are about to undergo. Remember,
most people get motivated
by other people or something
extrinsically.
For example, one wants
to have a body like Serena
Williams…. Yes, it can happen,
with the right mindset and
proper goal setting. It will
also work better when you are
intrinsically motivated along
the way which is coming from
within through the joy and
understanding of your desire.
You are not made of
bananas
But as time passes on and
results start to slow down and
maybe your dream is nowhere
near your expectations, that
motivation may fall and derail
fitness journey. After weeks,
months and years, it can be
quite difficult to stay on track.
However, you will find that
not giving up on your fitness
goals builds character and the
hurdles you go through make
you stronger and transform you
into a better healthier individual.
Take fitness as a journey, enjoy
every mile of the ride not just a
destination.
If you persevere through
your fitness program when the
going, gets tough just think of
self pride. I always joke saying
to my clients in the gym “just

trainers will take advantage of
the situation by going with the
flow of our impatient situation.
For an example you go and
buy 100kgs bumper weights but
in fact you need a treadmill, of
course they can not argue with
you its business for them.
As a Personal Trainer, I
would want to advise on safe
and effective ways to what you
desire in a good manner so
that you will not be a victim of
impatience.
Once you accept that you
will not reach all your fitness
goals overnight, you will
replace that impatience with
some much-needed focus. Not
giving up on your fitness goals
builds character by forcing
you to develop the trait of
patience, which leads to a true
appreciation of what you have
earned.
Daily Challenges
Let us face it, no matter what
your dreams are, you can not
lose that belly fat in a week.
Any fitness goal that is going
to last and serve you well takes
time to achieve. When we put
time, effort, and discipline into
something we so desperately
desire, we tend to appreciate it
much more than if it is simply
handed over to us.
In winter, rainy days and
dark mornings it is difficult to
drag yourself to the gym, boot
camps and running. Brawlers
let us be honest with each other
here… it’s not easy to turn down
your favorite meal and dessert.
Yes, it is a tough journey for
sure.
During your journey to the
fit life, you will come across
daily challenges that test your
ability to remain self-disciplined.
Hop out of the bed, you can do
it! Yes, you heard me right.
Motivate yourself by setting
short term goals. When all you
have is that long term goal at the

end of the tunnel, it may seem
like each individual workout
really serves no purpose. It does
not seem you are moving that
much closer to your goal. Once
the week is up, evaluate your
progress and set some new goals
for the week ahead.
Finally, the last thing that
you can do to stay motivated
with your fitness regime is to ask
yourself certain questions. How
do I feel after workout? Do I
have confidence?
Is this the remedy for my
blood pressure? All this might
keep you going, to a certain
extent people say it when they
see change, even your clothes
sizes drop.
Your smile will never go
unnoticed… boom. Such a big
motivation to keep you going.
Owning a sense of self-pride
while practicing patience and
self-discipline will give you
a great personality that will
help you to adhere to a fitness
program to the best of your
efforts.

Brawlers Captain takes charge as fitness champions line up for June challenges
THE Brawlers’ Captain, Fidelis
Zimbango rolled out of “behind
the scenes” to be back for the
first time, and take charge of
challenges for his team.
The month of June has
been carefully drafted with
fitness challenges that are tailor
made to cater for beginners to
professionals.
RUNS
From averaging 20km runs
per week, the running has been
stretched to as long as 150km
per week, totalling up to 600km
per month. By far, these are
commendable challenges that
will see the Brawlers doing more
for their fitness than before.
For those going professional,
not only are they keeping
their stamina intact, but also
extensively preparing themselves
for competitive encounters at
any level. The enthusiasm is
gripped in the manner the team
members scrambled over which
challenges to tackle.
Most encouraging are the
fore steps being grabbed by the
Brawlettes as they lock horns
fair and square with the Brawlers
though picking challenges.
Notably on the Brawlettes’
front runners are averages in

60.92 km. This is quite a positive
response to the Captain’s June
challenge.
INDOOR ACTIVITY
Whilst it may look simple on
paper, the Captain has proposed
a challenge for push ups ranging
from as minimal as 10, to 50
push ups per day.
Again team members
responded with great character
towards this challenge, making it
look like a walk in the park, yet
equally effective. For those going
professional, they will see the
push ups activity staggering to
over 200 push ups in a month.
This new indoor challenge
does not in any way undermine
the already on going home
workouts to include weight
lifting, treadmill workouts and
intense stretches of aerobics.
Interesting as a new indoor
hobby exercise is the skipping
exercise. As simple as it sounds,
this exercise is one of the
most effective cardio workouts
around, as reiterated by Dr.
Taurai Chipanaunga, a wellness
expert.
Studies show that skipping
for 10 minutes per day with a
rope is equally comparable to
30 minutes of jogging. Experts
endorse the activity’s benefits
as equivalent to a full body
workout that promotes good
heart health as well.
CYCLING
Whilst cycling has been
acknowledged and taking
place along the side lines, the
Captain clamped a challenge of
a minimum of 100km per week,
pegging the maximum possible
rides to about 150km per week.
This category of fitness
events welcomes entirely the
ease of the lockdown regulations
which now allow more outdoor
exercise hours extended from
3 to 12 hours, between 6am
and 6pm, as spelt out by Justice
Minister Ronald Lamola in the
media briefing of the 28th of
May 2020.
BIRD’S EYE VIEW
Whilst it is entirely exciting
to pick challenges, actually do
them and then share them, it is
the strict care of this platform to
encourage team members to be
cautious.
Team players are urged not to
overdo workouts that strain their
capabilities and body strengths.

Tricky times as Sea Robbers sail towards the transfer market

ORLANDO Pirates’ signing spree
of 11 players in the last two
transfer windows could prove
to be a two-edged sword for the
club, especially during these
times of uncertainty.
Pirates are one of the biggest
football institutions in the
country. Their aspiration to
return to the pinnacle of South
African football and African
dominance remains top of their
priority list.
But the club will know that
new additions to the existing
group of players is what makes
a dream team, that could
potentially compete with any
team that they may cross
paths with - in domestic and
continental football.
Quality is expensive though.
That is why the club might have
to break the bank to compete
with the best in the market,
something that won’t be easy
considering the impact the novel
coronavirus has had on the
economy.
Coach Josef Zinnbauer is
also bound to have his own
recommendations about what
he may need, considering
this will be his first pre-
season with the club after
joining the Sea Robbers’ camp
late last year following the
resignation of Micho Sredojevic
and underwhelming stint
under interim coach Rhulani
Mokwena.
Defensive loopholes
Pirates’ defensive loopholes
is an area that the 50-year-old
coach needs to pay attention
to, with his men having kept
only four clean sheets during his
11-match reign at the helm.
While there’ll be a need of
restructuring defensively during
the next transfer window, it not
known what will happen to
personnel whose contracts will
be coming to an end this month.
Most of these players were
part of the set-up when the
team finished as runners-up to
Mamelodi Sundowns in the last
two seasons?
Captain Happy Jele, who’s
spent 14 years at the club, and
veteran goalkeeper Wayne
Sandilands, 36, will see their
respective terms expire on June
30 but to date, the Sea Robbers
have been mum on possible
extensions.
Taking to the club’s official
Twitter account, Pirates did make
a special tribute to ‘Magents’ for
the milestone he’s achieved with
the club, showing visuals dating
back to when he started wearing
the black and white of the club
until the current season.
Sandilands, a two-time
domestic champion and an
African king with Sundowns, has
tasted the good and the bad that
comes with the pressure of being
at Pirates since joining the club
three seasons ago.
Remember how he dusted
himself off to reclaim the
number one jersey and wormed
his way back into the hearts
of ‘The Ghost’, teammates
and coaches after resurrecting
his career with the reserves
following a blunder in the
opening game last season against
Highlands Park?
With Pirates likely to extend
the duo’s deals for another
term they’ll still be forced to
make some serious additions
defensively for the team to run
like a well-oiled machine.
With the season having
come to a grinding halt because
of the coronavirus pandemic,
Zinnbauer will be one of the
coaches who will cross his
fingers for the league to finish,
especially with the last six
matches likely to set a tone for
the direction the club will take
next season.
Zinnbauer would probably
be pleased with his attacking
contingent - especially with
how striker Gabadinho Mhango
has been flourishing in front of
goals with 14 league strikes, 10
coming under his brief stint.
Whether the club releases
players or not, this would
probably be the time to buy
what they mostly need. After all,
the six midfielders that the club
bought in the last two transfer
windows could come in handy.
Zinnbauer, who would have
probably done his homework
before taking over the reins from
Mokwena, will also know that
it’s sometimes suicidal to fix
something that is not broken. -

Legend Peter Ndlovu reveals the secret of his stay at Mamelodi Sundowns

respect the players and be there
for them and make sure that you
manage and understand them.

Brescia on a three-year deal in

requesting for his contract with
Brescia to be terminated.
Balotelli still has over two
years of his three-year deal left
to run, but Cellino has been
irked by the striker persistently

Balotelli has been missing in
