Comprehensive COOP Review
The COOP is coming! This class is for
students entering 8th grade and applying
to Catholic high schools.
For Mathematics a petal! Students
Ms. P. Prucnel
This course will provide extensive review in
the mathematical section only of the COOP
exam. In addition to reviewing arithmetic,
number theory and problem solving, students
will measure academic achievement through
sample practice tests given in class.
For Reading and Language
Ms. P. Prucnel
This course is designed to provide instruction
and review in reading and language arts,
in preparation for the COOP exam. Sample
exams in these areas will be reviewed
to help measure academic achievement
and aptitude.
Color and Design
S. Eileen Casey, SSND
Vibrant violet, marvelous magenta, glowing
green – using one color, create a painting
using other colors to get various shades and
hues. Use texture, collage and metallic acrylic
paint to embellish the surface.
Greek Vases Amphora Mrs. Nancy Schneberger
Mrs. Lisa Marie Dybus
Students will be introduced to Greek
mythology and then make a 3-D Greek
Amphora (vase) on which they will paint
an image from Greek mythology. Messy
but fun!
Magic in the Laboratory Mrs. Gail Fair

Explore the physical world around you
with hands on laboratory experiments in
biology, chemistry and physics, such as:
isolate DNA, discover the lifting power of
helium, create colorful red, purple and
green flames, change copper pennies into
“gold” and

CSI: Crime Scene Investigation
Mrs. Angela Connelly
Introduction to forensic science; complete
hands on activities such as fingerprinting, foot
prints, crime scene details. We will use various
websites and play the game of CLUE.
Fun with Physics
Mr. Mike Mikhaiel
Additional $20 fee for supplies
Students will explore Physics through
various experiments and demos, such
as how to build a simple electric motor,
building electrical circuits, making
electricity from a lemon and measuring
your speed. Conduct water balloon and egg
shuttle experiments and much, much more.
Creative Writing
Dabble in drama, play with poetry and be
mesmerized by memoir writing. The class
will culminate with a reading of student
work on Friday. No previous writing
experience is necessary.
Never Argue with an Angel
Win every argument by learning to
see both sides. Energy, focus and enthusiasm
are a must for this course! Gail Fair, AHA
Debate Team moderator, will lead you
through formal debate techniques and
prepare you to join the successful Debate
Team at AHA!
Origami / Kirigami Creations
Ms. Kathleen Czepiel
Additional $10 fee for supplies
Unleash your inner creativity and think
“outside the box!” Students will explore
different origami designs and kirigami patterns
to transform plain sheets of paper through
folding and cutting into beautiful decorative
objects you may have never thought possible.
You don’t have to be artistically inclined for
this course.
Bling it On! Beginners how to “meet and greet” people, the “art of

Dyeing to Knit on the last day!
Ms. Margaux Peña
Additional $30 fee for supplies
Ms. Peña, Holy Angels’ own published knitter
(Vogue Knitting), will teach students how
to dye their yarn and knit items using simple
knit and purl stitches.
Hip to Knit
Mrs. Lisa Marie Dybus
Learn basic knitting techniques, including how
to cast on and knit and purl. Each student
will need to purchase 3 skeins of Rowan’s
Thick and Quick Yarn (any color) and one
pair of size 13 knitting needles (short ones).
Oh, Behave Etiquette for the 21st Century
Mrs. Barbara Burklund
Additional $5 fee for supplies
Learn the essential rules of proper etiquette:
conversation,” proper table manners, online
etiquette and how to politely stand up for
yourself in different situation. Students will
play games and participate in role playing
activities. We’ll end with a formal tea-party
Leadership 101
Ms. Jean Mullooly
Learn to be an effective leader. Motivational
techniques, managing conflict, communication
skills, organizing a club and leading a productive
meeting are some of the topics we will explore.

Black and White Photography – $300

Students will learn the procedures for developing

black and white film and prints. Students must have
their own 35 millimeter camera to take photos.
Please bring your own lunch.

Hollywood Angels:
Lights, Camera, Action! Ms. Kathleen Czepiel
Mr. Jonathan Burklund
In this week-long course, students will
explore the steps required to make a
short (5-10 minute) film in which every
girl will act, write, direct and produce.
Each film will begin as a blank page with
students brainstorming the genre and
events and collaboratively writing the
script. Acting and character exercises
will be practiced to prepare each student
for her performance.We will plan our
film shoot using storyboards, and film
the movie on the AHA campus. After
making collective decisions about editing
and scoring the film, there will be a final
screening for family and friends. A hands-on,
fun and educational learning experience
about the largest film industry in the
world which will give expression to
students’ creativity. For anyone who
ever wanted to be in movies or wondered
what it’s like to be behind the camera!
¿Hablas Español?
Students will experience practical
conversation and real-life application of
Spanish as a living language with emphasis
on simple sentence formation and proper
pronunciation, as well as the emotions and
fluidity associated with the spoken word.
Effective, spontaneous communication is our
goal.We will cover topics used in everyday
conversation, incorporating various cultural
aspects associated with the Spanish language
(such as food, art, music and popular culture).
No previous experience conversing in
Spanish is necessary. Join us for a fun
immersion experience!
Tee Off!
Mr. Patrick Dunne
This course will introduce you to the game
of golf. Patrick Dunne, AHA Golf coach, will
discuss proper technique, rules and course
strategy. You will then apply this knowledge
on the AHA putting green.
