Book Buzz

Assignment Description: Book Buzzes, sometimes referred to as “Book Talks,” are

essentially a pitch of your book. These videos are super short, no more than five

minutes! They also should not contain spoilers!! These talks can really contain anything

you want, and are totally customizable. Just remember one thing-- you’re trying to sell

us your book. These are pretty informal and should be FUN. Ms. Druse and myself will

post our examples on Flipgrid, as well as, on Google Classroom. Happy reading!

Things you MUST include:

● Title

● Author

● Why you chose the book. What made you pick it up?

● Your biggest takeaways from the book.

Things to consider adding to your Book Buzz:

● Background on the author

● Other works by the author

● Main themes

● Things the book did REALLY well

● Who would you recommend this book to? Who do you think would like to read it?

Who do you think would find it valuable?

● What makes this book awesome and unique?

● Does it remind you of other books you’ve read, or is it in a league of its own?
● Would you like to see this book taught in a classroom? Why or why not?

● What are the cultural implications of the book?

● If the author is writing from a point of view that they personally do not have, have

they done their research? (I.e. American Dirt by Jeanine Cummins. She is a

white author writing a story about people who are fleeing from Mexico.)

Please feel free to email Ms.Druse and/or Ms.Parker with any questions or if you need
