1. Discuss the current drug situation in the Philippines.

Based on what we research the current drug situation in the philippines are
based on 2019 figures by the Philippines Dangerous Drugs Board. As of now
2020, the United Nations Office of Drugs and Crime report that 1.1 percent of
Filipinos aged 10 to 69 use the drug. In Metro Manila, most barangays are
affected by illegal drugs. Inhalants are commonly used among minors,
especially street children. Street children in the Philippines are most likely to
be inhalant abusers. Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency statistics of 2019
recorded 40% of minors arrested for drug possession, and drug syndicates use
children as drug pushers. Children arrested for drug possession or use are
brought to the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), in
compliance to Republic Act No. 9344 (Juvenile Justice and Welfare Act of
2006)

2. What is OPLAN TOKHANG?

Oplan tokhang is one of the component of war on drugs that is administered by

our President Rodrigo Duterte. It is an operation that is involves the police
visiting the houses of individuals suspected to be involved in the illegal drug
trade or as users, to persuade them to stop their activities and submit
themselves to authority for potential rehabilitation.

3. How OPLAN TOKHANG helps in addressing the drug menace in the country?

Based on what we research Oplan Tokhang helps the community to be drug

free by doing the operation. Because of that operation drug suspects are killed by
because they were fighting police forces and by that some drug suspects are scared to
be killed and able to submit themselves to authority to rehabilitate.

4. As a future law enforcer, how would you help to combat the drug problem in your
community?

As a future law enforcer to make the drug free community is to conduct a seminar so that
people especially youth in the community is informed about the effects of drugs to the
human body. If communities and families can intervene early, behavioral health disorders
that can be a reason to do drugs might be prevented. In God's will i finish my studies if i
gonna took up a policeman or maybe a fireman i want to encouraged people in my
community to attend bible study and i want to encourage also those people who involved in
drugs to change his life style and make busy to do good to other to be a better person and
law a binding citizen.

1. What kind of dangerous drug drugs are currently being abused in the Philippines? Why?

Based on what we research the type of dangerous drugs that is being abused in the
Philippines is the depressant drugs aka marijuana and also the methamphetamine aka
shabu. Because of that NCR remains to be the main hub in the manufacturing of shabu
in the country. Manufacturing activities are done in residential areas, posh villages,
apartments and condominiums. Marijuana cultivation is still largely concentrated in
Northern Luzon, particularly in high-altitude and mountainous areas. The onset of
summer season, where there is an influx of tourists, causes the increase in demand of
illegal drugs in vacation spots, particularly in posh and exclusive resorts and club houses.
Enrolment and holiday seasons are also considered as critical periods since people have
extra money to spend.

2. Discuss the contribution of the Philippines in the worldwide drug menace.

Based on what we research drug abuse in the Philippines is multifactorial, and there
is a need to study these different factors. Furthermore, there is an immediate need to
do an epidemiologic study of the extent of drug abuse, which will significantly help
fulfill the need for policy, treatment, and prevention. Drug abuse affects almost all
countries of the world. In the Philippines it has reached epidemic proportions and is
one of the top priorities on the government’s agenda. However, there are many
questions to be answered in order to come up with a comprehensive program to
address this problem. This study will attempt to determine the economic, political,
and social context of the use of illegal drugs in the Philippines. The prevalence of
illegal drugs in the Philippines has not been accurately determined

3. Give at least 3 to 5 existing drug syndicates in the Philippines and discuss their modus
operandi of drug trafficking
a) 14K Triad or Hong Kong Triad, this triads operating in the country can each ship
up to three tons or over 900 kilos of shabu to the country through shipside
smuggling. In shipside smuggling, these DTOs (drug trafficking organizations)
cook their shabu in the high seas, dumped their contrabands overboard and
retrieve them afterwards through nets as evidenced by the discovery of a floating
shabu laboratory off the coast of Zambales on July 12, 2016. They also deliver
illegal drugs in nearby coastal areas and bury them to be recovered by their local
contacts.

b) Sinaloa cartel, international crime organization that is

among the most-powerful drug-trafficking syndicates in the
world. It is based in Culiacán, Sinaloa state, Mexico. They
smuggle narcotics into the country They're the ones involved now in smuggling
drugs using international service couriers. The cartel, he said, also uses the country
as a transshipment point of drugs heading to Las Vegas and California.

c) African Drug Syndicate, the syndicate has members marrying

Filipino citizens who later agree to become their drug mule. Besides
recruiting Filipinos as drug couriers, ADS members are actively involved
in international drug trafficking using our airports and cyber crimes.
