Tech Bulletin HG and CCMC Morrison Hershfield Eval 0619
As of August 2018, Benjamin Obdyke has been working with Canadian Construction Materials Centre
(CCMC) to test our HydroGap Drainable Housewrap to the CCMC standards for Sheathing Membrane,
Breather-Type with Drainage Capabilities for Moisture Index less than 1.
Benjamin Obdyke initiated a request for CCMC testing in August of 2018 and the CCMC technical guide
was made available to us in April 2019. We are currently working with a CCMC certified testing agency
out of Ontario, Canada to begin testing.
In the interim, Benjamin Obdyke has requested Morrison Hershfield, a Canadian engineering consultant,
to objectively evaluate HydroGap for use as a weather barrier – or sheathing membrane, using the
language of the Canadian codes – in exterior wall assemblies in housing and small buildings.
The evaluation from Morrison Hershfield states, “HydroGap Drainable Housewrap meets the general
code’s intent of providing a secondary plane of protection, thereby controlling water ingress into
buildings.” (Morrison Hershfield Limited, 2019, p.6)
Benjamin Obdyke received the final evaluation letter from Morrison Hershfield on June 4, 2019.
A copy of the evaluation letter can be issued upon request. Please email TechSupport@obdyke.com
with your request.
