The picture above was taken on around the year 2010, back when I was a

Grade 4 student in my old elementary school (BCES - Balamban Central

Elementary School). I vividly remember that day; I was a contestant for the
Metrobank Math Challenge (Division Level) held in Carmen, Cebu (1st
place) with my fellow companions who got awarded for their efforts in
some of the activities held at the event. When it came to my childhood,
there were some moments and experiences that happened to me and changed
me as a kid. Not only that, but those valuable learning experiences carried
along with me and influenced how I carry out myself at this present time as
a young adult. I can still remember when I was six (6) years old, I learned
how to read books, learned how to read difficult words, and mimic
pronunciations by watching Barney and Dora - in the end, I learned how to
speak English words in complete sentences while speaking grammatically
correct (sometimes). And the time I grew accustomed to my school life and
was also under the influence of a role model (my sister), I became quite
participative and active in class discussions as well as school activities
despite the young age. From what my Mom observed from me back then, I
was a quick thinker, a curious baby girl, and a fast learner based on
different subjects in school. I was quite talkative to my classmates before,
and all of them seem to tell me that I was approachable and jolly! And most
of all, I've participated in roleplays, monthly events, competitions, dramas,
theatrical performances, etc. - helping me grow my confidence little by
little. I couldn't forget how meaningful my life was back then.
I couldn't forget how I was back then. I couldn't forget how

"Back when I was in grade school, I remember going to the library and study
through books while writing down notes and lessons. I participated in dances,
performances, singing competitions, and activities along with my group of friends
while my mother and father were busy doing their daily jobs. However, unlike my
daughter, I learned more about my Catholic faith, memorizing prayers and lines,
knowing different canonical figures and Saints, and I learned the English
language a bit later when I was in 4th Grade."

"During our time, we were forced by our parents to become responsible for doing
household chores and do heavy work unlike children today. Since we were
financially problematic, we were forced to study without electricity and used
lamps/candles instead. And the discipline and strictness of our parents is nothing
compared to how children are treated today, we were punished if ever we did
something wrong or disobeyed our parents in contrast to children in this time."

"This generation is more technology-aided; everything is already instant compared

to ours: books, classes, projects, tasks can all be done online/through gadgets. Even
communication is instant and globalized; we had to use telegrams and letters to
send messages before which was time-consuming. Games in our times were more
outdoors and we had the chance to socially interact with other children in the
neighborhood, now children can connect with other people from different
countries. And most of all, our time was a bit harsher because our instructors had a
habit of giving us punishments when we break the rules, unlike today."
