The Corona Virus has changed our world.
It is difficult to get used to the new regulations
and restrictions as we gather in smaller numbers
and observe “social distance” from each other –
the very opposite of community and community
of worship. There is no obligation to go to Mass
during this time of pandemic. Many are nervous
and you should not be worried about missing
Mass. But we do miss you and you are in our
prayers. You are still a cherished member of
our parish. You can join us via the parish radio
or webcam (All Masses at weekends &
weekdays from St. Michael’s Church,
Portarlington are transmitted).

ALONE manage a national support line and
additional supports for older people who have
concerns or are facing difficulties relating to the
outbreak of COVID-19. Professional staff are
available to answer queries and give advice and
reassurance where necessary. The support line

SHINE A LIGHT NIGHT
Over 2,600 children are without a home in
Ireland. Let’s make it our business to end
homelessness in Ireland. The annual Shine a
Light Night will be raising funds to tackle the
current homelessness crisis, allowing Focus
Ireland to help alleviate and prevent further
homelessness. We are sleeping out on Shine a
Light Night on Friday 16th October and we are
asking you to join us. We want you to sleep-out
safely on Fri. 16th October, be that in your
gardens or homes & help shine a light on
homelessness. Will you give one night to

Some Ways to Keep Sunday Holy

2. If you can’t do this, read & reflect on
the Sunday readings alone or as a

6. Check in on those around you,
especially the sick/elderly.

8. Enjoy the beauty of God’s creation.

table & share a Sunday meal together,
gardening…
10. Pray a family rosary.
11. Visit a church to pray privately.

Day for Life is celebrated yearly by the
Catholic Church in Ireland, Scotland,
England and Wales. It is a day dedicated to
raising awareness about the meaning and
value of human life at every stage and in
every condition.

World Mission Sunday, 18th Oct. 2020
This year’s theme, Together we can do
more – Blessed are the peacemakers,
reminds us that the Universal Church family
is a global community that must stand
together if it is to do more. It also
recognises overseas missionaries as
peacemakers, who like Jesus Christ,
emulate love and harmony as they attempt
to reunite fragile people from fractured
communities, with God and each other.
