1.0 Introduction

The meaning of pollution is a presence in or introduction into the environment of a

substance which has harmful or poisonous effects to human beings is also known as a
substance or an action or process of making the land, water and air dirty and not safe or
suitable to use. Environmental pollution can be defined as something that pollutes nature
and nothing can affect the environment on this earth. Malaysia is a country that is going
to modernization year by year. People now are less aware that pollution is also increasing
in their daily lives. There are some who are aware of this but ignores the importance of it
and for them it does not matter. The purpose of this essay to make the readers and the
society to know the importance of environmental pollution in is increasing. In this essay it
will tell about causes of the increase of environmental pollution in Malaysia and solutions
to reduce the environmental pollution in Malaysia.

2.0 Pollution Issues

These days current development towards making Malaysia a modern country has sparked
a variety of situations. When our country is advancing we find that the earth has become
a victim. In this era of modernization the community in Malaysia never think that
environmental pollution is a serious issue in Malaysia, these community never think its
important. There are several types of environmental pollution that often occur in our
country, among them river pollution and air pollution. The issue of environmental
pollution should not be taken lightly by the community.

2.1 Causes for the increase of environmental pollution in Malaysia

There are many causes that can increase the environmental pollution in Malaysia
it causes by an individual, community or even by the nature itself. One of the causes
that can be seen as a cause for this pollution is the attitude of the community that does
not care about environmental health and hygiene. Disposing waste materials such as
faeces, oil and garbage into rivers and seas is strongly increasing. “Most of the
contaminated rivers are reported to occur in urban areas arising from garbage disposal
and industrial waste streams due to unplanned development” (Dr. Wan Junaidi 2016)
Beside that, among the other causes of environmental pollution is open burning.
For example an individual is burning old trees in the fields and forests for replanting
purposes. If viewed from one angle, replanting is indeed very good but as a result of
open burning done by some people can actually lead to air pollution.
In addition, the use of motor vehicles such as cars, motorcycles, lorries and
airplanes is also one of the contributors to environmental pollution such as air
pollution and noise pollution. For example, every morning people are using their cars
to go to work. Every vehicle will release the smoke of a vehicle that contains harmful
gases. This is if the improvement of the standard of living of the community continues
to increase in the present time, thus the level of pollution will also increase as the
number of users increasingly utilizing the number of road users who are comfortable
using their own vehicles to move to a destination.

2.2 Solutions to reduce the environmental pollution in Malaysia

Early prevention is necessary to ensure that this issue does not become chronic
and strive to create a harmonious atmosphere. One of the possible measures is to
see the role of the authorities such as the state government.
Beside that, campaign is a must too. Campaign about the environment should
be published in TV and radio should be internalized so that our environment is
maintained. The sense of responsibility needs to be sown in every individual so
that the environment is clean and safe for future generations.
In the same time, high penalties and fines should be imposed on those who
commit environmental pollution. Air pollution for example. Any vehicles emitting
excessive black smoke or vehicles emitting smoke that can cause air pollution
occur should be punished.

3.0 Conclusion

Since the world is now being threatened with pollution, appropriate and effective
ways should be taken. To protect the environment are not the responsibility of the
government alone. It is the responsibility of all people in a society. Community plays an
important role in addressing pollution problems. If all the people work together to deal with
pollution problems, of course, the earth will be long enough. The clean and sheltered
environment reflects a harmonious and healthy society to lead the nation's future science and
technology development
