Course objectives and contents
• Pollutant sources and control in air and water, solid waste
management, noise pollution and control, cleaner production and life
cycle analysis, reuse, recovery, source reduction and raw material
substitution, basics of environmental impact assessment,
environmental risk assessment and environmental audit, emerging
technologies for sustainable environmental management,
identification and evaluation of emerging environmental issues with
air, water, wastewater and solid wastes.

• Introduction to Environmental Engineering (The Mcgraw-hill Series in
Civil and Environmental Engineering) by Mackenzie L Davis, David A
Cornwell
• Any book of environmental engineering
Course evaluation policy
• Minor 1: 33; Minor 2: 33; Major: 34
• Quiz and assignment will be decided by instructor.
• Grading will be done against total 100
• Absolute grading
• Minimum passing mark: 30;
• A Grade: >80
• 10% of the total marks to surprise quiz(zes) can be assigned. If
attendance of the student is greater than 90%, result of the best three
quizzes will be considered, else average of all quizzes will be considered.
Exam pattern
• Exam pattern and any additional evaluation policy will be announced
before exam and no negotiation will be entertained after exam.
• Negative marking will be applied and will be declared before exam.
• After exam model answer would be sent
• Only totaling mistake or unchecked request would be entertained.
• Rechecking may cause more mark deduction if your request is false or
invalid.
