1. B. Reason
(1) Problem: Loss of drive between the engine-driven fuel pump and fuel control
governor system will result in a condition where the fuel control underspeed
governor will increase fuel flow along the acceleration schedule until reaching
the maximum fuel flow stop setting. This will result in a rapid, uncommanded,
uncontrolled increase in fuel flow to the engine. Pilot shutdown of the affected
engine is required.
(2) Background: There have been reported instances of loss of fuel pump to fuel control
assembly drive. Excessive wear of the drive shaft splines has been observed on
several fuel control assemblies returned from the field.

1. B. (3) Action: The engine manufacturer, in conjunction with The Woodward Governor
Company, has developed an improved overspeed governor mechanism in the fuel
control assembly. This feature will limit the fuel flow if loss of drive occurs between the
fuel pump and the fuel control assembly. The new part number fuel control assemblies
retain the following previously incorporated features.
S Ps3 Piston Design − Eliminates the requirement for the replacement of the Ps3
diaphragm at 3000 hour intervals.
S Vespel Spline Design − Eliminates the requirement for the drive shaft, stub shaft,
and quill shaft spline inspections at 3700 hour intervals.
C. Description
This service bulletin provides authorization and instructions for replacing the fuel control
assembly as specified in Section 2.
D. Compliance
Honeywell recommends that this service bulletin be complied with when the currently installed
fuel control assembly is removed for cause that requires return, or when the fuel control
assembly requires overhaul.
E. Approval
The change to the engine type design authorized by this service bulletin complies with
applicable Federal Aviation Regulations and is FAA approved.
F. Manhour Requirements
No additional manhours are required to accomplish this change when a maintenance action
necessitates access to the affected part.
Information regarding price and availability of parts may be obtained from a Honeywell
authorized service facility. (Refer to Service Information Letter (SIL) P331-27.) A listing of
authorized service facilities is also available on the e-Engines website
(www.e-engines.honeywell.com).

2. Accomplishment Instructions
A. Replace the Fuel Control Assembly to Provide Improved Protection From Overspeed
(1) Remove the fuel control assembly as specified in the Engine Maintenance Manual.
Refer to Table 1.
(2) Install the fuel control assembly as specified in the Engine Maintenance Manual. Refer
to Table 1.
NOTE: For each specific engine model shown in Table 1, any of the “New
Part No.” fuel control assemblies for that engine model may be
installed in place of any “Old Part No.” fuel control assembly. The
“Old Part No.” column identifies which fuel control assembly may
be reworked to the part number in the “New Part No.” column.
(3) Upon completion of engine reassembly, check and ensure proper engine operation in
accordance with the engine test instructions.
(4) Make an entry in the engine log book noting date of compliance, engine operating time,
part number(s) and serial number(s) of installed component(s) (as applicable), and
compliance with this service bulletin (and service bulletin revision number, if
applicable).
(6) Complete the attached Compliance Certificate form and send to Engines, Systems &
Services.
