island complex in the world. Among its
island is Java where Bali and Sumatra is
located.
➢ Indonesian culture was largely influenced by
neighboring countries.
➢ Traders from Portugal and Dutch colonist and
early migrants from nearby countries brought
religion and traditions which the Indonesians
has adopted.
➢ Indonesian populace observe Islam Religion
➢ Legal system was based on the old Dutch
Penal code called ADAT LAW.

The Music of Indonesia
Each country has a distinct characteristic
and learning them is a good way to adapt
and cope with their culture. One way of
learning culture is through music
Gamelan is the traditional orchestra of Java
and Bali, Indonesia. It is an important part of the
culture and tradition of this country. It consists of a
large variety of gongs and sets of tuned metal
instruments that are struck with mallets.
