Present simple to talk about things which are repeated…


1. I usually get up during the week at 6:30 am.
Later I take a bath and enter online classes 7:55 am,
at 2:00 pm I leave class and do my homework.

2. Since I started online classes in the afternoons,


I do homework and regularize my late work.
Permanent states are situations or feelings which are not temporary…
1. I understand everything in the book.
2. I speak several foreign languages.
The third person singular forms end in -s or -es. That's for he, she or it…
1. She wants to visit London.
2. She seems to be very busy.
Questions…
1. Does he remember to wake you up every day?
2. Do they sing their favorite song every morning?
Negatives…
1. She doesn’t like that kind of food.
2. You don’t do that very often.
PRESENT SIMPLE
PRESENT PERFECT: SIMPLE AND CONTINUOUS

We often use present perfect for talking about something which happened in the past which
is important now…
1. We have lived in this house for over twenty years.
2. Hung up, you’ve been on the phone for two hours.
We also use present perfect with just for talking about a recent action.
1. She has just finished reading my magazine.
2. Sue has broken the glass
We also use the present perfect for actions or states that are unfinished…
1. I have thought about it for two hours.
2. Since when have you been sick?
We use already to talk about something which has been done…
1. When I arrived, the class had already begun.
2. The boy has already made new friends.
Yet is mainly used in questions and negatives to talk about something which hasn’t
happened, but which you thought would happen in the past and you expect to happen in the
future…
1. She hasn’t returned from lunch yet.
2. The mail hasn’t arrived yet.
a. Have you found a job yet?
b. Has he finished his homework yet?
We use still to talk about something which is going on longer than you expect…
1. You are still the best student in the class.
2. He still lives with his mother.

Also, it serves to express something that will happen in the future …
1. I am getting up early next week.
2. I start doing yoga the following month.
For questions you just change round the subject and the verb to be. So, You are > Are you,
then add the…
1. Is she reading the newspaper in the living room
2. Are you working very hard?
For negatives you add not after the verb to be. Don't forget to use a contraction if you're
speaking…
1. He doesn’t want to make dinner.
2. She’s not very good at math.
