BCG-TM-PRO-07-13 Work Permit Procedure
SYSTEM (WPS)
1.0 PURPOSE
To establish a system that provides a formal documented declaration that only authorized personnel are
allowed to carry out specific work within specified time.
2.0 SCOPE
This applies to activities that include all Electro- Mechanical Installation, Testing, Commissioning and
Maintenance carried out by the employees and sub-contractors.
3.0 RESPONSIBILITY:
The responsibility of WPS is with the respective Project Managers & QA, while the overall responsibility is
with the MR.
The WPS applies to the Areas mentioned in 5.1, 5.2, 5.3 & 5.4
5.0 PROCEDURE:
5.3 Electrical: all work on installations which poses a hazard from electrocution, fire and explosion.
5.5 Maintenance: machinery permit, required where dangerous parts of plant or machinery
could reasonably be foreseen as a hazard
5.5 Work at Heights: / roof access, access to fragile roofs or where the roof has no safety edge
protection or parapet, any work involving the risk of falling more than 2m.
5.6 Ensure the WORK PERMIT SYSTEM BCG/TM/FRM -15/13 contains the following information;
5.7 The Validity of WPS for hot work, cold work, and confined spaces ( where applicable) is clearly
mentioned in the WPS.

5.8 Post receipt of the permit checks are made to the equipment/area during the progress of work to ensure
that safe conditions are being implemented. The work will stop if the equipment/area becomes hazardous,
and will only start after the hazardous condition has been corrected and it is again safe to proceed with work.
No work other than that detailed on the work permit will be carried out.
GENERAL NOTE:
If project demands us to use their own format for the Work Permit Form, then we will adapt
ourselves accordingly to the same.
