Universities waiving GRE/GMAT in USA

The COVID-19 health crisis has summoned unprecedented challenges that have shaken the world. The human race couldn't have contemplated such a powerful threat when the world order was seemingly
under our control until now.

This pandemic has led to the closure of several test centres including the ones hosting GRE/GMAT. In light of this global health emergency, a number of universities have decided to waive the GRE/GMAT
requirement for prospective students.

Here's a list of some of the best universities in the United States that are relaxing this requirement for graduate school admissions -

University of California, Berkeley

The University of California System's world-leading public research university announced that GRE and GMAT will no longer be an admission requirement for PhD programs starting Fall 2021.

UCB's admissions committee recommends spending more time and efforts towards documentation instead.

University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill

The School of Information and Library Science at the highly-ranked University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill has waived the GRE requirement. This waiver applies to students applying for spring,
summer, or fall 2021 terms.

Nevertheless, applicants are encouraged to submit their GRE scores to help the admissions committee assess their application better even though it is not mandatory. Learn More

The assistant dean of admissions stated that the online options of GRE and GMAT do not accommodate everyone and present them with an added challenge of studying in a crunched timeline.
