POINTS TO BE CONSIDERED DURING BROILER FARMING

1. Houses Preparation and Biosecurity

2. Chick Quality and Transportation
3. Feed Quality and Feeder
4. Water Quality and Drinker
5. Management and Knowledge
6. Good Production
HOUSE PREPARATION AND STERILIZATION

• The litter of the house should be cleaned with advanced germicide.

The walls of the house should be cleaned properly with water.
However, it is better to clean with a cozy soda.
• Before starting the fusion, the doors, windows, ventilators, etc.
should be stopped so that no air will enter the room. 60 grams of
potassium permanganates and 120 ml for every 100 cubic feet of
room.
• Fumigate with formalin (40%).
PREPARATION FOR THE CHICK

✓ Broiler house should be cleaned properly by removing the batch of the

previous batch. Washing with water (mixed with bactericidal) will be kept
empty for 7 to 10 days.
✓ Then the litter should be spread in the room. The brooder ring should be
prepared 6 hours before the arrival of the chick and the temperature of the
brooder will be at 33-35oC. Brooder room can be heated before 12 to 24 hours
in the very winter.
✓ Within the Brooder Ring, one day's chick food and water pot should be
placed. As soon as the chick is brought out, the box will be placed inside the
brooder ring without vaccine / vaccine (if needed).
✓ Glucose & Vit. C mixed with water can be given. If the same age chicks bring
together and sell together, it will be easier to protect them from the disease
germs.
✓ For the first 1-2 hours chicks will have to take time to take a break and eat
water and food. After 1 to 2 hours the food, water supply and temperature
should be checked and it is necessary to fix it.
THE TEMPERATURE INSIDE THE BROODER

Age (day) Temperature oc

0-3 22
3-7 30-31
7-14 26-28

After 14 days, no heat is needed in the summer, but under the temperature of
20 degrees Celsius, heat will be given to heat.
DAILY PROGRAM OF BROILER FARMER

• Day -0: Place the litter and brooder ring, arrange water and food inside the brooder.
temperature 33-35 oC.
• Day 1: Immunization of ND and IBD. Each brooder ring can hold 250-500 chicks.
• Day-2 to 4: Cleaning the feeder and waterers every day, provide adequate feed and
water and observe if the temperature is correct.
• Day-5: Providing feed and water containers by removing small pot (plates) of food
and water.
• Day-6: Monitoring of feed and water and temperature.
• Day-7: Gumboro vaccine can be given.
• Day-8 to 20: Meet feed and water, take 3 percent of the broiler weight per week,
and match the weight of the charts of the chicks weights. If the weight is lower
then the feed protein will be increased. If the weight is higher then the light will
reduce to 1 hour.
• Day-21: Gumboro vaccine given.
• From day 22 to the sale: Providing regular food and water, checking weights per
week, if the litter is wet spread saw dust. For 23 hours daily, arrange artificial
light after sunset ( Electric bulb), the temperature of the broiler house at 18-20 o C.
Keep in it, use electric fan in the summer
SOME IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT BROILER REARING

❑ Stock density: 15 broilers in every square meter (1 square meter = 10.76 sq. ft.) in
slatted floor & 10 to 12 broilers in every square meter in the floor.
❑ Food Pots: 1 broiler for every 5 centimeters in lengthy food bowl and round food
bowl should be supplied as 1 broiler for 2 centimeters. However, during the time of
brooding, one feed plate should be provided for every 80-90 children.
❑ Water vessel: 1 broiler for every two centimeters of a long water pot and 1
centimeter of round water pot will be provided for a broiler. However, during the
time of brooding, one plate of water should be provided for every 100 children.
Feeder & Drinker Management
TEMPERATURE MANAGEMENT
❑ Brooding: Brooding up to 250-500 chicks in each brooder can be done.
❑ Measurement of the location of the brooding: 1st week per square meter (1
square meter = 10.76 square feet) 60-65 chicks can be brooded and in the second
week 30-35 chicks per square meter can be brooded. That means 500 chicks can be
made with 30-ft or 9.1-meter long chick guard. And the circumference of the chick
guard will be increased every day a little bit.
❑ Chick guard height: Height 45-50 cm or 18-20 inches
BEFORE PROCESSING BROILER CHICKEN

1. Broiler should catch in colder time. At least 2 to 3 hours before harvesting, the food
has to be stopped. The house is dark in the day or by burning the deem light on the
night. Before catching the house equipment should be removed
2. During transportation, avoid excessive crowding.
3. After catching, it can be kept for 4 to 5 hours. It is easy to be processed even if some
weight loss is reduced due to keeping.
4. After the chilling or cooling of the broiler, weight gain increases to 2 to 3 percent
