Pastimes in which devotes
remain same in duality of this
world

Victory or defeat
For Rupa Goswami and Sanatan
Goswami victory or defeat not important.
Only concern about krishna sewa.
One day, one very egoistic pundit of the
name Rupa Narayan came to Vrindavan.
He proclaimed himself to be ‘Digvijay
Pandit’ — a scholar who had traveled all
over the entire land of India challenging
every scholar to debate and had defeated
all of them. He had a document called
Jayapatra, where each scholar had to sign
his name and write, “| am hereby certifying
that | have been defeated by Rupa
Narayan.” He came to Vrindavan as the
last place, as he had heard the glories of
Rupa and Sanatan Goswamis. He
challenged them to a debate. Rupa and
Sanatan Goswamis, they were not
concerned with winning debates; they were
only concerned with glorifying Krishna.
Why should they waste their time like this?
He said, “I challenge you.” And they said,
“We accept defeat. You are such a great
scholar and we have no hope of competing
against someone like you.” Rupa Narayan
said, “Oh! But | have heard, everyone is
boasting about how you are such great
scholars; come debate with me.” Rupa
Goswami said, “No, no, you know how
disciples are! They always over-glorify their
gurus, and we are not much of anything.
Why should we waste your time?” Rupa
Narayan said, “Ah! You say like that, then
you sign the certificate: we certify that we
have been defeated by Rupa Narayan — by
Rupa Goswami and Sanatan Goswami.”
Happiness and distress.
Pastime of Srivas son death showing
how they remain same in distress
situation of life
As Lord Caitanya was dancing in Srivas
Angan, some crying was heard from one of
the rooms. Srivas was called into the inner
chambers of the house and there he found
that his son had passed away. His wife and
other family members were weeping.
Srivas Thakur told them that their son was
most fortunate because he passed away
when Lord Caitanya, the Supreme
Personality of Godhead, was performing
nama sankirtan in their home, their son has
definitely returned to the Spiritual World.
Srivas Thakur further told them that if their
crying disturbed the Lord’s dancing than he
would give up his life. He asked them to
keep silent and not disturb the kirtan. After
saying this Srivas Thakur went back and
joined the kirtan.
Comfort or Discomfort
Devahiti was so faithful to her husband
that not only did she serve him with great
devotion, service and respect, but she did
not even care for her own health. That is
called selfless service. It appears that
Devahiti had no sense pleasure, even with
her husband, otherwise she would not
have deteriorated in health. Acting to
facilitate Kardama Muni’s engagement in
spiritual elevation, she continually assisted
him, not caring for bodily comfort. It is the
duty of a faithful and chaste wife to help
her husband in every respect, especially
when the husband is engaged in Krsna
consciousness.
Rich Or Poor
Being great devotees of Krishna, Rupa and
Sanatana cared nothing for their wealth
and positions. They left all his opulence
and when to Vrindavan for higher case.
