OUTBACK XACK
Great job swimming sidekicks! You
are all going to make great
explorers? Say, how would all of
you like to see one of the largest
rocks in the world, Ayers Rock?
O.k. Great! In order to do that we
need to march to the Great Outback
of Australia.
Xack points into the distance.
OUTBACK XACK
Let’s march on our bums to Ayers
Rock!
He begins the actions for the marching song.
Xack peeks behind the rock again, then pulls his head back
in laughter.
OUTBACK XACK
(Whispering)
Ha, ha! It’s just my friend
Kangaroo Lou! He’s sleeping.
He takes another peak, then draws back towards the camera in
more laughter.
OUTBACK XACK
Ha, ha! Kangaroo Lou is dreaming.
Again, he looks behind Ayers Rock, then back to the camera.
OUTBACK XACK
He’s dreaming about hopping. Ha ha!
Kangaroo Lou is funny! Wake up
Kangaroo Lou, its Outback Xack and
my explorer friends.

OUTBACK XACK
Explorers unite! I think Kangaroo
Lou is in deep sleep, that’s when
you have dreams. On the count of
three let’s wake him up. On the
count of three let’s all say, wake
up Kangaroo Lou! One! Two! Three!
Wake up Kangaroo Lou!
He looks behind Ayers Rock again.
OUTBACK XACK
He’s stirring about. Kangaroo Lou,
its Outback Xack and some explorer
friends. Well come on out. It’s
o.k. buddy, its just us.(to camera)
He’s being shy.(to Kangaroo Lou)
What’s that? Oh.(to camera) He’s
scared. On the count of three let’s
say, don’t be afraid, we’re your
friends. One. Two. Three. Don’t be
afraid, we’re you’re friends!
Kangaroo Lou pokes his head out from behind the rock and
flinches.

KANGAROO LOU
I was playing with my new boomerang
earlier today, when I threw it far
far away, and it didn’t return to
my dismay, and I don’t have time to
look today, because I have a
hopping lesson with Instructor
Sloppaway!
OUTBACK XACK
Crikey! Did you all hear that?
Kangaroo Lou threw his new
boomerang far far away, and it
didn’t return to his dismay. Hmm.
Wait a minute! Sidekicks, how would
all of you like to help me, help
Kangaroo Lou find his new
boomerang?... O.k. great! Kangaroo
Lou, I have an idea that might help
you! We’d like to help you find
your new boomerang!
KANGAROO LOU
Hip hip hooray!
Kangaroo Lou jumps for joy.
KANGAROO LOU
My boomerang flew over Ayers rock,
and into the Eucalyptus tree that
had three big brown branches bent
like a knee!
Lou points to the left.
OUTBACK XACK
Did you all hear that mates? Which
way did the boomerang go?...Spot on
mates!

OUTBACK XACK
Wait! Kangaroo Lou what did your
boomerang look like?
KANGAROO LOU
It was purple with gold polka dots!
Gotta go!
OUTBACK XACK
We gotta go too if we want to find
the boomerang before the sun goes
dow- Wait a minute! Do you know
what a boomerang looks like? It
looks like one of my favorite
letters in the alphabet. Its a
v-ery v-ery cool letter. That’s
right its the letter V. This is my
own boomerang.
He produces a WHITE BOOMERANG.
OUTBACK XACK
Do you know how a boomerang works?
Spot on mates! You throw it way out
into the sky...
He throws the boomerang, watches it soar, and catches it
upon return.
OUTBACK XACK
...and it comes right back to you.
You don’t even need a friend to
catch it and throw it back like a
ball. Which way did Kangaroo Lou’s
Boomerang go?
Xack looks at Ayers Rock.
OUTBACK XACK
That’s right explorers it went over
Ayers Rock and if we are here, and
we need to go that way, what do you
think we need to do to get
there?...
The Marching Song begins.
OUTBACK XACK
Alright mates these must be the
Eucalyptus trees Kangaroo Lou was
talking about. Which Eucalyptus
tree has three big brown branches
bent like a knee? Let’s count the
branches to find out.
He points and counts out loud, beginning with the tree on
the left and moving to the right.
OUTBACK XACK
One. That tree has one big branch.
(moving on to the next tree) One,
two. That tree has two big
branches. One, two, three. That
tree has three big brown branches
bent like a knee! That must be the
tree! Do you see a boomerang?...
Look to your left!
Shading his eyes, he looks left.
OUTBACK XACK
Look up in the tree!
He looks up.
OUTBACK XACK
Look to your right!
He looks right.
OUTBACK XACK
Don’t look at the sun silly, you’ll
lose your sight! Hm, I don’t see a
purple polka dotted boomerang
anywhere. I don’t know if we’ll
ever find the boomerang.

OUTBACK XACK
Wait a minute! This looks just like
the Eucalyptus tree that my friend
Paula the Koala likes to hang out
in. Lets all say Eucalyptus tree on
the count of three. One. Two.
Three. Eucalyptus tree! Maybe if we
find my friend Paula the Koala
she’ll be able to help us find the
boomerang.
OUTBACK XACK
It looks like Paula is stuck under
this log!
He scurries behind the fallen log, bends over and can’t
quite get his arms around the log.
OUTBACK XACK
Remember mates always lift with
your legs not your back! Ok, I’m
going to try to lift this log off
of Paula! Stay back mates! This is
far too dangerous for young
explorers.
He tries to lift the log.

heavy! Hold on Paula!

you mean over there?
Shading his eyes, he points to the right.
OUTBACK XACK
Oh I’m sorry, you mean behind me?
He spins to look behind himself.
OUTBACK XACK
Up? Up?
Xack looks straight up, avoiding seeing the Koala almost
directly above him. He rotates and is startled at the sight
of the koala, jumping and shrieking in soprano.
OUTBACK XACK
Crikey!
Covering his heart, he breathes heavily, then chuckles.
OUTBACK XACK
Ha, ha! It’s just my friend Paula
the Koala. Does everyone remember
why we are out here?... That’s
right, we’re looking for the purple
polka dotted boomerang. Wait a
minute! I’ve got an idea! Let’s all
ask Paula if she’s seen the
boomerang. On the count of four
let’s all say, have you seen the
boomerang? Ready? One. Two. Three.
Four. Have you seen the boomerang?
Paula speaks in a snobbish helium voice.
PAULA THE KOALA
My name is Paula the Koala and I
only speak to other koala’s! Humph!
Paula crosses her arms in smug fashion.
OUTBACK XACK
Crikey mates! That wasn’t very nice
was it?...It sounds like Paula is
cranky. Wait a minute! Who did
Paula say she’ll speak to?...That’s

the boomerang flew out of Kangaroo

tree that Paula the Koala was in,
landed on this dune, and got buried

might need before going into the
ocean?... Did you say an air tank?
Ok. Everyone pull out your air
