Short and Long Vowel Review

With Gabriella Grammar

Hi! I’m Gabriella Grammar. Let’s learn about

short and long vowels together. When a vowel
sounds like its name, it’s a long vowel. If a vowel
does not sound like its name, it’s a short vowel.
Let’s look at some examples:

The word “rate” has a long “a” sound.

The word “that” has a short “a” sound.

Even though both words contain the letter “a,” they sound very different. Say the
words out loud to hear the difference between long and short “a” vowels.
