Cigarettes: disaster or blessing?

Cigarette. Who does not know of a smoky little one who comes from tobacco. This little we can get in stores,
both small shops to large stores such as supermarkets. We can even find it at hawkers who roam the station or
terminal.

This little one is packed by paper in the form of a box, and is designed so that it's easy to carry everywhere. The
packaging is also made interesting so consumers want to buy it. In addition, cigarette advertisements are also
made interesting and do not show the slightest that it is a cigarette advertisement.

In fact, in cigarette advertisements in any media, it has read "Smoking can cause cancer, heart attacks,
impotence, and pregnancy disorders". But whatever the power of writing. the writing is only a decoration.
Consumers even ignore the consequences caused by knowing that there will be a disaster behind it. whether an
illness or depletion of money in our pockets.

It is said to be a disaster, because there are many facts that mention that burning cigarette smoke has caused
about 85% of lung cancer and is also associated with cancer of the mouth, pharynx, larynx, esophagus, stomach,
pancreas, mouth, urethra, kidney, ureter, bladder urinary tract and intestine. So much is not a disaster that we
will get? By smoking we are just slowly killing ourselves. Because in one cigarette contains about 4000 poisons
that will enter our bodies.

Not only smoking harms oneself, but also for others who inhale smoke from smokers. People who breathe in
cigarette smoke are passive smokers. It is precisely passive smoking that will have a worse impact than active
smokers. Let's imagine, if there is a father who smokes in front of his child it means that the father is giving
poison to his own child.

Over time, the number of active smokers in Indonesia has increased. Even many children who already consume
cigarettes. How terrible. With the increasing number of active smokers, it also means an increasing number of
passive smokers in Indonesia. And this will worsen the health of the Indonesian people themselves. Because
more and more people will suffer from lung cancer. Will we continue to be silent seeing many people suffer?

But with the existence of cigarette manufacturers in Indonesia, of course also provides many benefits for the
people of Indonesia themselves. Because cigarette factories need a lot of employees. Because Indonesia is a
large market prey for the cigarette industry both locally and internationally. We can meet many cigarette
manufacturers from Sabang to Merauke. Many profits are obtained by producers from the sale of cigarettes
because the number of cigarette consumers in Indonesia is very much. In addition, the state also enjoys foreign
exchange from cigarettes. Taxes given to sell cigarettes are very high. And from that money Indonesia can meet
the needs of this country.

If we oppose the sale of cigarettes in Indonesia, do we have the heart to see so many people who have lost their
jobs? The process of making cigarettes requires a lot of people. Starting from planting tobacco, people who pick
it, people who transport it, people who process it into cigarettes to become rolls of tobacco wrapped in paper.
With so many people fired, it means that there will also be a lot of children who lack the funds for school.
Because of cigarettes, the producers since ancient times earn a fortune to support their families.
In addition, the contribution of cigarette manufacturers to Indonesia is also large. Because, many large cigarette
manufacturers in Indonesia provide scholarships for Indonesian children. Some even have a school that
accommodates their students free of charge until they finish school. Being a dilemma, right?

We have to oppose it or accept it? Maybe this time all we can do is act wisely. Because we already know which
is good for us or not.
In my opinion, the government should take a policy in dealing with the problem of smoking in Indonesia. And
provide solutions to solve existing problems without harming any party. Not only a large cigarette tax but also
have to think about the content of cigarettes to the smoking behavior is also dangerous.
