2. Whose philosophy is more attractive to you, Bentham or Mill? Briefly explain your choice.

Stuart Mill’s philosophy caught more of my attention because it was more substantial than
Bentham’s. Mill was able to expound more of how we can evaluate the effects of our actions by basing
not just on the quantity but also with the quality. Moreover, the idea of “...to be able to achieve higher
quality of happiness, we need to have character formation...” really struck me. What I was able to get in
here was that, if we, as humans, will not act foolish, be desperate, or be dishonest, we could really get
high quality of happiness. This is because, most of time, we get to forget ourselves when running after
low quality pleasures. The world is deceiving by its countless offers of temporary satisfaction which we
should not give in. Thus, character formation is a must to see what truly lies in this world, to look for
genuine happiness that we really deserve.
