Main Argument

The piece “Mga Tala ng Aking Buhay” is an autobiography of Gregoria de Jesus, the wife
of Andres Bonifacio. The author, Gregoria de Jesus, or also known Aling Oryang, wrote
this piece to share her various life experiences which include her connection and role to
the Katipunan. The main purpose of the author is to recount not just her story but to all
Filipinos who were fighting for the independence of our country. By this autobiography,
she was able to relay how our heroes achieve our freedom and the sacrifices they went
through in order for the Philippines to become free an independent country.

Analysis and Observation

Every Filipino would agree that Gregoria de Jesus would be considered as one of a kind
woman in our history. She was very courageous, dedicated, and committed to what she
was doing. She was a dedicated and good leader in the Women’s Chapter of Katipunan
in the Philippines. Since Gregoria was assigned to be the keeper of the important
documents and seals during the revolution days, her life was always in danger but she
managed to find a way to save not only herself but for the whole countrymen from
danger. It shows how amazing she is that she doesn’t only think for the safety of herself
and her loved ones but she also cares about the safety of the whole country. She also
talks about how she managed to be safe from all the dangers she has been through
despite her young age. She learned a lot of things which she doesn’t use to do. She
learned to be courageous enough to face fear even to face death for the freedom of
our country. We cannot deny the fact that Gregoria is a very good example to every
woman today in our country because despite being a woman she still made a name in
our Philippine History.

She is a symbol of bravery and a woman who values her principles. What she has been
through and all of the things she has done and her sacrifices require a lot of courage and
internal strength. She did not only play a big part in helping the people who run
Katipuneros, but she somewhat founded it as well. Without her, things that the
Katipuneros are fighting for would be a waste and will not set as awareness of other
Filipinos. She also brought strength to women at that time wherein women were always
portrayed as weak or those they rarely contribute help in times like this. She has proved
that every man's success; there is always a strong woman behind him. For all of her
sacrifices, help, and support she offered for the Katipuneros who fought for our country,
there’s no wonder why she’s called as Lakambini of the Katipunan.
