Fili - my best friend and my
dog.

time.

I was strolling along the beach one day when suddenly, Don Fili
started to bark and ran off.

I decided to go for a walk because it was a beautiful morning: the

sun was shining and the birds were singing.

the previous night.

We use this tense to describe something that has been

happening over a long period of time.

All past tenses together…
We were walking as usual one day,
when all of a sudden, Don Fili shot
off. He started to bark furiously. I
saw a man sleeping face down on the
sand. Don Fili continued barking,
but the man didn’t wake up. He
wasn’t sleeping; he was dead. It
was clear that the storm had washed
up the body. It had been raining
heavily the previous night.
