INTRODUCTION SITUATIONAL ANALYSIS VISION

Sharaqpur Sharif is a town of Sheikhupura District in the Punjab province of Pakistan. The
city is tehsil headquarters of Sharaqpur Tehsil of Sheikhupura District. It is located at 31°27′
48″N 74°6′0″E and lies on the Jaranwala road, 32 KM from Lahore and 20 KM from the
third exit of the M2. It is situated on a very fertile agriculture belt. Town has 8 UC with the
avg. growth rate of 2.4, Sharqpur has 3.60 acre as commercial area. The general purpose
of Action Area Plans is to ensure that development is undertaken in a sustaina-
ble and integrated manner. The action areas are designated in the various Local
Area Plans and Town Plans, which also set out the particular objectives for each
action area. It differs from other kind of local plans because it requires intensive
change.
Sharaqpur hareef has been haphazardly developed. Some of
the houses and markets present have been there before the
partition and still no work has been done for their renewal.
The commercial markets are in the central congested parts of
the town which is creating many problems such as traffic con-
gestion although they are sufficient for the fulfilling the needs
of the present population. Many planned and unplanned hous-
ing schemes were initiated by both public and private enter-
prise result in present day scenario.
 To ensure that every citizen, regardless of their eco-
nomic status, has good choices in where they live,
and opportunities to reach their fullest potential.
